boat show on my lake soon

#1 Post by JohnO » Fri Oct 05, 2012 2:22 pm

As I was coming from the docks today a new Premier was being dropped off. 10'wide, three tubes. Twin 300's

Unfortunately the whole thing was still in shrink wrap. Apparently it's here for a photo shoot and then get's shipped back out. (I told them they could just give it to me to save on shipping but they didn't go for it)

Has a very neat mini swim platform with boarding ladder between the motors.

I'll try to get some pictures.

Very nice! I just went to the Tampa boat show and Premier had some of the nicest toons there. They even had the one from that country video. The double decker with the slide. It was selling for $109,000. Too rich for my blood.

That rear boarding steps/ladder looks like an accident waiting to happen.

My dealer's already receiving his boats slated for the big boat show in January.

He has a Bennington QCW 2874 29' tri hull with a Yamaha 350 hp engine--black fencing with dual black bimini's and a three axle trailer.

Most desirable boats now sold are mid line in size and price--22'-24' tri hulls with strakes and 150 hp motors.

I cannot imagine buying a 10' x 28' pontoon with twin 300 hp motors, as there's not enough cash flow to feed two of those monsters. You may as well be running a 50' cruiser or houseboat at more mpg.

First of all let me apologize. I forgot to take pictures. (I know I know. but at least it wasn't bikini babes I missed)

Turns out it was a PDB magazine shootout! On my lake.

Saw a couple nice JC pontoons and an avalon. The premiers aren't until tomorrow. unfortunatley I have to work.

BuT I did manage to talk to the Yamaha guy who was there to support the test (Krauthammer?). We talked about my boat a while and he asked how I liked the motor.

I mentioned that I was trying to wring every last bit of speed out of it to get over 40 mph and that a buddy from the forums did a couple designs that I've either got installed or will install. He said "Goofy?" No, Brian (forget the rest of his user name)

Isn't goofy the tap fins guy? Thought that was funny.

Then he asked about my prop. I've got a 15 x 15 1/4 yamaha aluminum prop on it. He says he can easily get me the .36 MPH I need to get over 40. I need a reliance 15 x 14 1/2 stainless steel. He had one on the truck so I was able to see one (and get pictures so I don't forget it) He spent probably 15 or 20 minutes with me. Not bad to have manufacturers rep giving you one on one attention just because you were there and he wasn't busy. Apparently he normally only works with manufacturers.

I've been following multitudes of prop threads on a couple different forums and he finally explained things where I could understand (cup, rake etc)

Now I've got to find one for my own.

Thanks bamby, I have been watching that. Just need to find out if it's be reworked (The Yamaha guy says that they are never the same after getting damaged to that extent)

Thanks for the pics! I really like seeing what they are doing with Toons these days. Have you heard at all what kind of top end they hit with that Premier.

Nope. I had to return to work before they had her in the water.
