Initial plans included boating from northern Eufaula Lake, through the locks, through Lake Seminole, through another set of locks, then down the river to the Gulf of Mexico.... then return.
Plans had to be changed when discovery of the 'new' lock hours of operations. Starting this year, recreational boats can only 'lock-through' Fridays - Mondays, 8am to 3pm or so...
Since we'll be locking through the upstream one on Monday, then spending two days on Lake Seminole, there's no way to get through the lower lock...
It sucks, but... oh, well...

Re: Chattahoochee River trip plans... Anyone else want to go?
Doc: Looks nice, but I'd prefer to go north and cruise the Tennesee River starting at Chattanooga.
The mountain scenery is great, and the lakes are superior waters. The trip to Knoxville is just over 100 miles, and locks from Chickamauga to Watts Bar to Ft. Loudon Lakes. You could go up and back to Chattanooga.
Or. go south of Chattanooga from downtown on Nickajack through the Grand Canyon of Tennessee, locking down into Guntersville. Staying in hotels or the state park in Guntersville. There, you lock down into Wheeler Lake and run the length to Joe Wheeler State Park Inn @ Rogersville, AL. Then lock down into Wilson Lake. It's a 200 mile trip. one way. From there, I'd drive back to Chattanooga and bring the tow truck/trailers to Rogersville to pickup the boats.

Wish I were closer I'd sign up for the trip, going as group has always a good time whenever we've had the opportunity to do it.

Oh, I think you just set some ideas for 2014 summer boat trip! Or, is it too cold to do that during 'leaf season'?Bamaman wrote:Doc: Looks nice, but I'd prefer to go north and cruise the Tennesee River starting at Chattanooga.
