Custom build idea I've been thinking about

#1 Post by Mrtoler » Tue Feb 19, 2013 9:53 am

I've been thinking lately about a custom built from scratch peformance fishing toon! I'm thinking tritoon for sure 18' long 25" dia tubes center transom tube rated for 150hp, strakes and hydraulic Jack plate. As for above the deck, center console with bench seat in front of console, and 4 nice fishing chairs in the four corners.....what are some thoughts on this?
With the 150 I'd figure high 40's and upper 30's with the 115

I thing I would go 20 foot unless your fishing just in small lakes, I can get my 20 footer where I need to, the two extra feet will make it smoother ride and will take waves or wakes better sitting still.

And would be a quick sell if you decide to unload it for another project

I think it would be marginal if you could get the Coasties to rate an 18 ft pontoon for a 150. Prob ok at 20 ft Tritoon.

Building your own boat you won't need a coast guard rating on it. But 150 is kind of a overboard for a 18' toon. I would go 20 to 22 But it's going to be expensive to build and rig out. I think a 18' about a 90 would be great.
