Max rpm's

What is the max and the cruising rpm on say an older like 87 evinrude 88 "spl". Just dont want to over rev it.

WOT is 4500 to 5500 RPM per the service manual, cruising RPM I don't know maybe someone else can tell us. The max RPM is 5800.

Ok.. Thats what I was looking for is the max.. so 4500 to 5500 is max.. Ill just keep it in the 5k range then. and slow cruise in the 3500 range.. I need to get me a service manual... I have notied that boats dont usually have any thing posted on line.. Most of the car forums I belong to have all the manuals posted for just about everything. You guys on here a a life saver between you all and Beth and Tony at Wake to Wake I have learned alot..
