Anchor plate for mounting Digger anchor?
Anybody mounting a Digger anchor to the fence rails? Below is a great mounting plate someone on the forum had made for their fluke-type anchor and would like to mount my Digger anchor (2nd pic) in same way. Haven't found anything online, has anybody made one?

Re: Anchor plate for mounting Digger anchor?
I have had a pair of Diggers for 6 years. I just keep them stored under on of the seats. To be honest I've haven't been happy with their performance. I was just telling my wife last night I'm going back to flutes and and chain section. Digger's a great company, when I did have an anchor hang up, breaking the spring rod, they sent me a new assembly no questions asked.
There would be too many variables, but I sure like to see a anchor comparison. Different style anchors on rivers and lakes. We spend 90% of our day anchored and some days it's a PITA re-setting the anchor 3 or 4 times a day. It keeps me from a "peaceful nap"

I keep my digger in a soft-sided cooler. The padding helps keep it from dinging my tin.
I also am not impressed with the performance of my digger. I have the biggest one, and it does NOT hold my boat. I'm going to try 15 feet of chain on it this year, to see if it helps, and if not, I will be dumping it, and communicating my disappointment on every internet forum I can find.

Re: Anchor plate for mounting Digger anchor?
Not doubting you guys at all, but I have been happy with my digger.
I do have to use a longer anchor line than any other anchor I have had though, but I knew that before I bought it.
I guess it more to do with what kind of bottom you are anchoring to.

They tell you not to use any chain so I never have. I know they need longer rope line but that doesn't seem to help either. Thinking about a 3 ft section of chain but there must be a reason they tell you not to use any chain.

That's strange, because everything I've ever heard, was to use at least 8-10 feet of chain directly attached to the anchor. then use rope. This dramatically increases an anchor's holding power, and in fact, my anchor didn't work worth a crap, until I added 10 feet of chain. I'll always use chain now first, then anchor line. Maybe because of the type of anchor, they said no chain?

Yep--Straight from the digger website and it was in the instruction sheet when I bought mine.GXPWeasel wrote:chill'nthemost wrote:BobG wrote:IThey tell you not to use any chain so I never have. Re: Anchor plate for mounting Digger anchor?
Thanks for the rec to use a soft-sided cooler. Perfect solution! Can store the cooler under a seat and when I need to anchor, pull the whole thing out to the bow, ready with anchor and flaked line underneath. Better than mounting on the rails. I've already installed the anchor cleat. After dropping anchor can pay out the line (marked every 7"), and remaining line just stays in the cooler. Thanks! Love this forum. Will let ya know how it holds in KY coves, lot of mud I hear.

Digger anchor held
Anchored in KY Lake cove yesterday with mud bottom, good wind and boat wakes. Happy to report the Digger anchor held just fine, even at 3:1. (I know, should be 6 or 7 to 1 ratio. just testing it out.). Let out the line to drift closer into cove and all good. Pulling it up was a snap. All around good, first-time-ever anchoring experience.
