maintenance
Hey guys, a quick question for you.... last fall I had my boat completely serviced, oil change, water impellar, plug, etc etc.... however this past summer we used the boat very little... I bet we didn't put more than 4 to 6 hours on her all year... so my question is this year what do I need to have done.. I'm assuming change oil and filters.. but do I need to take care of anything else? I keep her out of the weather in an indoor storage building. I'll also put a new battery in in the spring since it still has the original battery and is now 4 years old... appreciate your input...

Re: maintenance
Just me but I would check the oil and the lower unit if everything looks good I would just launch it and go. I think sometimes we get too anal over service. Six hours is nothing but if you feel better change the oil and lower unit for peace of mind.

Re: maintenance
Roland: Just do maintenance at the end of next year. All of your lubricants will still be fresh, especially on such a new boat.

Re: maintenance
I agree, just let it go and do it next year.

Re: maintenance
Roland we only put about 18 hours on our toon this year. I talked to the marina that does this stuff for me and the owner told me 100 hour interval for Yamaha after the first oil change ( I had it done at about 85 hours) and since the Yamaha impellers are built so rugged, he suggested waiting until at least 150 hours to change that out.
Regarding fogging: the folks who sold me the boat suggested not fogging unless I was planning on not using the boat for a year or so. He said fogging just really screws up the plugs.
I put Sea Foam in the fuel tank and ran it for about 20 minutes to get it into the motor, put a 750 Ma trickle charger on the battery and put some charcoal down in the center tube compartment to absorb moisture.
I'm sure you'll get many more suggestions, but these are all pretty much worth what you pay for them.
Merry Christmas!

Re: maintenance
Hey guys... thanks for the advice... I was going to have the oil and filters changed, but with a max of 6 hours on her since I had her serviced last year is nothing... I guess my concern was about the oil being in there for 2 full years (this past season and the upcoming season ) before it was changed again...... only thing I will do is replace the battery.. thanks again guys.. really appreciate it. have a good weekend.
