Usually a line will break at a knot or eye so which makes a stronger eye--a 3-strand weave or a bury splice in braided rope?

Re: Rope ultimate strength
Braided is stronger at any given diameter but tends to stretch more (elastic).
It really depends on the application. If its running through a bunch of rigging, braided wins. If you are simply tying your boat to the dock, just go a little thicker and easily braid the three strand.
I've done both and the three strand is MUCH easier to braid.

Re: Rope ultimate strength
I suppose after lots of practice splicing 3-strand would be easy-- but I don't think it's easier than pulling the tail inside the standing line of braided rope. Even with my lack of experience I could do that in the dark.
