55.3 gps with Mirage 19"

58.3 gps with Tempest 21"

The Tempest not even close to the Mirage at 3000 rpm.(Mirage 27mph vs. Tempest 21mph)

Drop the top to trailering position and pick up another 3 or 4mph. Makes a huge difference! Nice ride!!!

I have a 200 Pro Xs with the Enertia 16 pitch prop on it on my 28' triton (interior and exterior strikes). I've never thought about changing the prop, this came from the dealer this way.

How do I know if I'm even in the ballpark of what is best? All the prop talk has me wondering?

http://www.go-fast.com/Prop_Slip_Calculator.htm
Here is the best tool to use. Take notes on GPS speed, RPM's at planing, midrange and top speed and trim settings. Keep your loading as close to the same every time you test. You want to use the calculator to determine slip. You want to achieve the highest speed in the max RPM range, with the lowest slip number. Its a good way to trim your fuel usage as well. The least slip, the more economical your motor will run. You are trying to get to 6 to 12%. slip. Up to 17% is ok. But you must be in the upper RPM recommended by the manufacturer, too much overloading the powerhead can be devastating.
Starting point, find a buddy with an equivalent prop. (15 3/4 X 17 Mirage Plus, for instance) Spin it and note
After comparing your notes with the slip calculator a few times, you'll start to see the science in it and the results from your swaps.
After a few deep water prop swaps, you'll be a pro!
As I have said a hundred times....
I LOVE PROPPING!!!

Yes I've been using this for years. Keep a spreadsheet with all the results including everything you pointed out.

All 3 blade props. In tests with the 4 blade props we got good hole shot but a little over 52mpg gps top end. Mid range was good also but not as good as the Mirage.

Props make a huge difference. But they are expensive to play with-

WOW I am surprised to hear that, I was thinking maybe the Tempest for my JC Neptoon 21TT/
Suzuki DF150 but it sounds like it's not at all a good cruising prop.

So was I but the numbers didn't come out in the Tempest favor. I'll play with some Enertia props next time.
