Bad Day At Lake, At Least For A While

#1 Post by NonHyphenAmerican » Sat Aug 02, 2014 8:24 pm

Got to Shady Creek Marina at El Dorado Reservoir today, only to find that some Ignorant Moron had let one of his employee's have the code number to the Marina to borrow his boat. She brought seven of her friends along. Evidently, they had a great time in the middle of the night breaking stuff and stealing stuff, including 4 rods & reels off my boat. A new pink Zebco 33 that was the Admirals and a couple of old Daiwa Enclosed Underspins that I've always liked and a no-name stout rod for big cats. All of them have our name on them in indelible ink, so you'd think that they'd be embarrassed to have them. Evidently, they were the only ones running around the Marina late into the night and had to have the LEO's called on them a couple of times for noise/rowdiness. All the missing and broke stuff was found the next day as people came to the Marina to go out on their boats.

Lake Law Enforcement probably won't do much. I saw a couple of the KDWP Officers. I chased them down and made a report. They took my phone number and told me they'd get a Park Officer to call me but that there wasn't much they could do. I told them that while they were checking creels, they could keep an eye out for someone having fishing rods, including a Pink Zebco 33 with our last name and phone number inked on them.

Wanna bet we never hear another word?

Grrrrrrr.

:nutkick Ougthat be legal to :nutkick people like that. You'd think that they'd check in with the guy who let his employee use his boat and get the list of people his employee brought out and then go check em out.

The good news is that they left all the "Expensive" stuff on our boat like the depth finder/gps, trolling motor, etc. etc. etc.

Liked those old Daiwa underspin rod/reels though.

Caught a lot of fish on them over the years.

I'll have to check to see if I can find anything similar.

That's really a shame that people can't respect other people's property. I think you're right, you'll probably never see your stuff again... I'd be a little irritated with whoever gave those people the code to get in... and I know if I were you and I ever saw a pink zebco being used in the area, time to put a boot up their ass..... I keep my boat in a storage building that the owner uses for not only storage, but for auctions.... but he always puts barrier ropes around my boat to keep people off and so far I"ve never had an issue.... hope you find your stuff...
