Sometimes it's hard to tell if someone is being serious or just being funny. But if you were serious about not seeing the problem, enlarge your view of the picture and look really close at the prop and skeg on the motor. They actually go down inside and below the frame of the trailer. So unless the rear of the boat is floated pretty high, the prop won't clear the trailer when loading and unloading.

The trailer for my brothers fountain has a gate across the back with a hinge on one side. Supose to protect the drives if you get rear ended. JT

To me, it looks like he can actually trim it up out of the way of the rear bar and could do that before launching. If that's not the case, then I agree its an issue.

Apparently, one of two things has to be happening.

Either there is enough room to use the tilt/trim to raise it over the bar, or the launch he is using floats the boat sufficiently.

If not, he couldn't have loaded it that way.

Based on the shadow on the pavement, I'd say he has enough room to raise it.

There did not appear to be enough room to allow tilt. I could not see the back of his boat while he was on the boat ramp to verify.

We do that about every wkend. Our dock is the first one near the ramp so we just sit out there and watch the excitement - especially on holiday wkends. We keep wanting to make score cards and hold them up. :lol3
Here's a video of one Lake Havasu ramp where the locals make a sport of it. A little long, but worth the watch. :thumbsup

That is hysterical -- but talk about intimidation. I think I'd be finding a different ramp if I were even the least bit unsure of my loading/unloading skills. I'm glad we don't have to load our boat after use -- just pull it into the slip (but that's a pucker-power in itself putting a 8.5' boat in a 10' wide slip).

That rear cross bar wouldn't have to be far back at all to float the motor over it. The rear of my bunks are 18"-24" below the log on most ramps . I back in to where the front of the bunks are just out of the water. As long as that guy pulls his boat up to the winch stand he'll never hit. As mentioned above lots of go fast boats have trailers with a cross bar behind the lower unit. My brother looked at one before he bought his powerquest with that style of trailer . It didn't hinge you had to float over it. It's actually a good idea. A moron bumping into your lower unit at 5 mph. Could ruin your day. A cross bar to protect from minor collisions isn't a bad thing I.m.o. I'd rather fix my trailer than the boat .
