Craigslist pays off, new custom made cover

#1 Post by dhsofficer » Thu Oct 16, 2014 2:06 pm

When my new Bently was shipped to me from Texas, my factory mooring cover was destroyed. Probably should not have shipped it with it on. I didn't really lime that cover anyway.
So I ordered a "semi custom" cover off one of the popular sites. HATED IT!!!

I decided to buy a custom made cover that would fit right. I got a few prices around $1200-$1600. So I kept looking.
I found a lady here in Orange County who has been doing covers for 18years. She came to me to measure my boat, she is coming back tomorrow for final fit and them Saturday for final install.

I can't wait to see the results.
She is also going to do a front bimini for $500.00

Dang,

That's almost worth dragging my Bentley across the country to get a top made. I'm anxious to see the results as well.

I grew up in the OC... I was rowing my first boat around Newport / Balboa harbor in the early 60's. Since the speed limit in most areas there was only 5 MPH the big excitement of the day would be when the Harbor Patrol went by on a call and actually made some wake to splash into. It was always fun to take friends around on my own harbor cruise to show them the houses of John Wayne, Buddy Ebsen, Barry Goldwater... lots of big dollar boats down there.

Newport harbor has changed a lot. John Wayne's boat is all there. His house was sold and torn down. It is now owned by the terrible Herbst family.

I'll post pictures tomorrow if it is done.
