First mishap

#1 Post by Tankplunkett » Wed Oct 22, 2014 11:23 am

Well me, my wife, two kids, a buddy and his wife took the pontoon out this past Sunday for a nice leisurely ride for lunch. Everything was going fine until I decided to make a pass around a small island on Lake Conroe. While making the turn towards the island I felt a small pop in the steering and then I had no steering! My buddy came up with the idea to lay on the back of the boat a "steer" the motor from there. Worked out good enough to make it back to the boat ramp, we took turns running the throttle and steering. I haven't dove into the steering yet but it looks original to the 1990 Playcraft. I'm thinking something in the round gear box finally gave out. Anyway, everything worked out well this trip and they actually want to come back for another trip once I get it fixed!

I'm not saying let's go kill all the stupid people.. I'm just saying let's remove all the warning labels and let the problem work itself out.
