Getting ready to winterize for the 1st time. As far as oil I'm thinking Mobil 1 10w-30. Looks like it is good up to 100 degree temps. What does everyone else use/recommend?

Go another season with dino oil before you make the switch to synthetic. It'll give the rings a better chance to seat in.

Not a bad idea! Not sure how many hours I put on this year but I would guess well under 100. Trolling motor most of the time.

I waited until 40 hours to change over to synthetic oil. And note that Mobil 1 EP is a far superior oil to just plain ole Mobil 1.

2015 was a big water year for us. I didn't use but 3/4 of a 21 gallon fuel tank. I had my lake house torn apart rebuilding the screen porch and deck it. I just completed the project 2 weeks ago.

I don't really need an oil change this Fall--with so few hours run.

Better check with Mercury before using Mobil 1, I thought I would use Amsoil synthetic in my Yamaha 150, and I was told by Yamaha folks to only use a marine synthetic oil, so I use the Yamaha Gold synthetic and Mercury synthetic gear oil in the lower unit.

Mercury recommends their 10/30 or 25/40 conventional oil and you can also use their 25/40 synthetic blend. I used their 10/30 for the first 50 hrs and then switched to their 25/40 synthetic blend. Any of the 3 will work I switched to the 25/40 blend because that is the one they recommend for the Verado and because it is a blend the rings can still seat if anymore time is needed but I figure after 50 hours they probably are seated.

Thanks, I didn't know Amsoil made a marine synthetic just for 4-strokes, I never bother to read their booklets I get. I used Amsoil for the engine and drive in our previous I/O boat for 8 years, been using Amsoil in our cars for the past 18 years.
