pontoon drain plugs?

#1 Post by dhsofficer » Sat Nov 08, 2014 2:29 pm

How often do you remove your drain plugs?

With temperature swings, air pressure inside the tunes can flucuate from day to day, season to season..
Do you ever remove your plugs to equalize the pressure? Do you ever hear the air going from baffle to baffle inside your toons? What is the best replacement plug to put in the toons?

Don't worry about opening drains unless you happen to hear some sloshing in the toons or if it's substantially lower in the water on one side than the other.

i haven't opened mine in 5 years. I figure of the boat doesn't seem to change how it sits in the water and each year when I yank it for the season the logs sound empty and dry why open them and risk not getting them sealed right for next time.

Mine are not really drain plugs. They are at the top of the tubes in several locations. The one time that I had the skirting aluminum trim off, I did not not the material and was wondering since someone asked here if anyone knows what Bennington used in their boats in 2007??
