I currently have an Enertia 15.125 x 14 SS prop on my 2014 Merc 150 HP outboard (part# 48-898988) and I'm looking for a back-up to carry on the boat. Not sure if I want to spend the $$ for the same prop. What would be a good alternative as a spare?
Thanks

Re: Propeller
Curious as to why you only run a 14p Enertia? Our boat is 22' and run a 15p Enertia on our 150 Honda. I get 39/40 @ 6100rpm.

Carl:
Your Honda has a 2.14:1 gear ratio where the Mercury has a 1.92:1 gear ratio. Your Honda prop spins just a little slower than the Mercury so that would make up for the 1" pitch difference.
My next door neighbor has a Verado 150 on a 22' Harris tritoon, and he too uses a 14 pitch Enertia.

Re: Propeller
Heck, I would just buy a cheap aluminum off Ebay, if its just going to be a "Get me back to the dock" prop. Make a holder for it by drilling a hole in a piece of plywood, insert a carriage bolt a little longer that the prop is through the back. screw it to the floor under a seat. Put your spare prop on it with the bolt protruding through the hub and use a large washer and nut to secure the prop down. No rattles or damage to the prop by moving all over the place when cruising. Cost? A few bucks, maybe! Just an idea that works great for me. Have built one for all my boats since the first one in the late 70's.Reiner wrote:I currently have an Enertia 15.125 x 14 SS prop on my 2014 Merc 150 HP outboard (part# 48-898988) and I'm looking for a back-up to carry on the boat. Re: Propeller
It came with the boat and I haven't thought about changing things yet. Mine runs 37/38 mph based on GPS with bimini up and is ok with me.cwag911 wrote:Curious as to why you only run a 14p Enertia? Our boat is 22' and run a 15p Enertia on our 150 Honda. I get 39/40 @ 6100rpm.
Plus the other post about the different RPM's explains this too.
I'll go the basic aluminum prop route suggested and the mounting idea is pretty slick too.
Thanks for the info!
