Stainless Steel Rod Holders for Ski Bar?

#1 Post by Mosnowman » Sun Feb 22, 2015 12:12 pm

Anyone use rod holders you clamp on to ski bar? If so what brand and where did you find them? I'm looking for a couple stainless steel ones if they work?

I bought some clamp on ones for my tow bar from fishonsports.com They are not stainless but solid brushed aluminum and they are very high quality. Not sure if they make stainless but you could call and ask.

Good luck!

Funny you're looking at these. I'm looking at them also. I want to mount them to my ski bar in the back.

I found the Atwood SS ones at Wally World for $43. I didn't pick any up yet, but I will soon.

I have 4 on mine, I believe I bought them on Amazon. They came in a set of 4 at the time, but since I have only seen them in pairs. I think the price was the same though, so just order two pairs if you want 4 total. I kept them low enough so the ski rope clears them. Make sure you measure the pipe you want to clamp them to since they come in different sizes.

Here's the ones that fit up to a 2" pipe.

That's a neat idea with the BBQ in the rod holder back there Captain. Do you find it pretty stable? Any trouble with grease splatter all over your engine or anything like that?

I just ordered a couple from Amazon....next question....

You guys that have them...do you clamp directly on the tow bar or put anything between the bar and clamps? Ie...rubber...foam...etc? Didn't know if they would scratch things up?

I put a strip of electrical tape between clamp and tow bar, worked out well. One other note, before tightening fully make sure your motor completely clears the holders when raised fully..ask me how I know!

I clamped direct and haven't noticed any marks on mine when I changed the angles a little. Trim the motor all the way up first and all the way to one side so you know what amount of space you have to work with.

Here's a couple pics of the all aluminum ones I purchased from Fishonsports.com. They come in clear anodized or gold anodized as pictured.

Yep, works good. I only put it up when I'm going to use it. Secures down hard with a screw down type attachment. The motor sets back behind the grill so the drippings just hit the water. I also have a mount on the side of the toon that I can use.

What a great idea! I've been looking at fishing rod holders for the side rails on the boat and never even thought about the Ski bar. That would be so much better and out of the way. Thanks for all the helpful ideas!

The two I ordered arrived today from Amazon. I have to say..I'm totally impressed with the quality and look! I checked and my flagpole fits in them as well.

If it were warmer than 18 degrees I might go put them on.... :tofunny
