Sun Tracker Bass Buggy 16
Good Morning, I need your opinions and thoughts, please. I am looking at a Bass Buggy 16 ft as a replacement for my old 1969 18 ft, Star Craft Aluminium cuddy, which keeps needing repair due to its age like me. Does anyone have experience with this Sun Tracker Bass Buggy 16 or 18 ft? My boat slip is 20x10 and I don't want nor can I afford a larger one. I am leaning towards the 16 ft due its smaller size and I believe it would be easier for one person to manage it, dock it than the 18 or 20 ft models, your thoughts please. Also how does it handle rough water or white caps?
Thanks
Richard
Thanks

I have a 22ft pontoon, and wind, & white caps are a problem. I am sure I can stay out longer than with 16/18ft toon

I have an 18' Bass buggy with a 60 merc and I love it. I have been on some rough water with it, 3- 4' rollers on Lake Mead and 35 mph winds on Lake Coeur D'Alene, Id. It wasn't fun by any means, just have to take your time and be smart. One thing you have going for you is it is almost impossible to sink a pontoon unless you hit something. people and cargo are going to get wet and you will be miserable but you should make it back safe.
I have never seen a 16' Bass Buggy I don't think the extra 2' will be a big thing, but if you like to fish with someone the 18' is the better choice
Good Luck with your choice

Thanks, there is about a four to five thousand dollar price difference between the two. Am strongly leaning towards the 16.

Look for a lightly used Bass Buggy 18. They're all over in my area. BassPro boats are pretty expensive new due to the no haggle price. You might find a brand new 18' fishing pontoon that's new for less money.

I've been happy with my Sun Catcher, built by G3/Yamaha.
When we were buying, the Sun Catchers were better outfitted than BassPro and were less money.
That $4-$5k difference might disappear if you can find a Sun Catcher.
