Dual Engines on a pontoon

#1 Post by summersled » Wed Aug 12, 2015 6:08 am

Evinrude promo video shows dual engines on a 2015 tritoon. Ladder in the middle. Imagine an engine on each of the outer 'toons! And even more outrageous, the engines steer counter to the each other using something they tout as "I-Dock" joystick steering, to "park" it.

Twin motor Tritoons have been around for a while. The new independent controls would be awesome I bet, but even with a good old cable controlled dual binnacle you'd be surprised how easy you can maneuver.

While not nearly as fancy (or expensive  ), here's one I built last year:

Wouldn't it be easier to just add a single Mercury Pro 400 (Verado) out of their Racing Division?
My local dealer's selling them for between $25K and $27K, not including mounting, fly by wire binnacle and wiring harness.
Get the ECU reflashed by Simon, and you'd certainly be a hoss on the water.
I think getting it properly setup and propped might be difficult, however.
