Re: anchor staorage
I bought a folding Grapple Anchor. honestly your best bet is to buy another anchor, unless you have room for it under your helm.

Re: anchor staorage
depends on what you are anchoring to? I anchor in mostly mud with occasional hidden timber and use a 20# river anchor with 150# of rope on a 1996 24 ft party barge.

I used this on two poontoons. It's about $50.00 all stainless and worry free mount.

Re: anchor staorage
I got frustrated trying to fit the fluke anchor in my under seat storage. Broke down a bought a foldable box anchor a few weeks ago. Fits easily in the under seat storage and holds the same as the fluke anchor without having to give it a whole bunch of line.

Re: anchor staorage
I just use a milk crate. I put a traffic cone in the center and coil the anchor rope around the cone. It keeps the rope from tangling, and it is easy to re-coil around when retrieving. I throw the fluke anchor and chain on top of the rope in the crate. The open areas of the milk crate let your rope dry easily too.
Easy to move and cheap, been using the same crate for 6-7 years.

Re: anchor staorage
I have two river anchors. Keep Em in a wash bucket. One on front and one in back. Works great. Each has 150 ft of good anti knot rope. Plus the buckets come on handy !

Re: anchor staorage
Our lake bottom is pretty much rock free and just mud.. we use a couple of mushroom anchors and store them in an old milk crate at the back of the boat.

Re: anchor staorage
We have Digger anchor and box anchor. Each one is kept in a mesh-top duffle bag. When storing, anchor goes in bottom of bag, then coil the rope in figure-eight on top of the anchor. We have a lot of non-nautical guests, so it's easier to tell them to get the duffel bag ("what's an anchor?" question being handily avoided). The figure-eight coiling prevents knotted up line, fast deployment of anchor. We also ALWAYS tie off the line to the boat before sending the anchor overboard. (If we need 20 feet of line, we grab some line at the 30' mark and tie it off. Then we cleat the line when we're at the right scope/length.). This little cleat thing is great!
