Has anyone ever used one of these? How was it?
We have a spot next to the old boat house up at the cabin that would be perfect for keeping the pontoon at during the summer, instead of trailering it over and hour every weekend that we get up there. The boathouse holds the jet skis now, and my father in law built rails with rollers and winches at the top to pull those in, so I know I have someone who could help put this in right. My wife's grandparents used to keep their old pontoon in the spot I'm thinking of, and there used to be the same type of system there, but it's pretty rotted now and I think we'd be starting from scratch to build a new one.
This kit seems to have everything we'd need (except wood) and isn't too expensive, any thoughts?

Re: Shore Dock
my thoughts exactly, I'd only use that on a "stable" small lake or protected bay. I wouldn't want my pontoon on it for weeks unattended. Being from Minnesota I see quite a few "shore stations" and 50' rails come up for sale pretty cheap on craigslist fairly often. If you have access to a welder it you could build a basic 40-60' steel rail and trolley system for the same price. I use a 60' rail system I made with 3" channel and it works great for getting the pontoon away from the water.curtiscapk wrote:should work if your lake doesn't fluctuate much..
