Mercury Spitfire X7 Alloy
Anyone run this propeller and have any thoughts on it vs. the Aluminum Spitfire?

Re: Mercury Spitfire X7 Alloy
Haven't used it, or heard of it..... But a stainless version of the Spitfire, SIGN ME UP! The standard spitfire aluminum was my favorite all around prop when I had my 70hp 4 stroke. I see you have a Command thrust though, I would have to think a 15"+ diameter 3 blade would have more bite and be more effecent than a 13" 4 blade on your engine. I'm stuck with Suzuki and their goofy low geared midsize case so this looks like a great option to put all 140hp to the water.

They do. Look on Mercury's Web site. It's X7 alloy, not SS.

<cut & pasted> Mercury Marine, the world leader in marine propulsion and technology, has introduced SpitFire X7, a stainless steel propeller designed to improve all performance facets of the growing 75-115hp outboard class.
The SpitFire X7 is the first in the 75-115hp engine class to be marketed with Mercury’s proprietary X7 alloy, which is 30 percent stronger and four times more durable than conventional steel. Using the X7 alloy and building off the best-in-class aluminum SpitFire, the SpitFire X7 will significantly improve acceleration, top speed and holding compared to other stainless steel propellers in its class.
“A high-performance propeller is the most cost-efficient way to improve a boater’s experience, and for the 75-115hp outboard class, the SpitFire X7 delivers,” said Jared Reichenberger, brand manager for Mercury Propellers. “With gains of up to 1.5 miles per hour and substantial acceleration improvements versus other stainless propellers, the SpitFire X7 will be a staple in the Mercury propeller lineup for many years to come.”
The SpitFire X7 is available at Mercury dealers in 15-inch, 17-inch, 19-inch and 21-inch pitches.

Re: Mercury Spitfire X7 Alloy
I'm going to look at it hard after I get motor height dealt with. I'm running a 15x15 Powertec SS not so good prop. Lot's of head space in RPMs turning 4800, when it should be between 5800 and 6000. The lowest pitch in the Spitfire X7 is 15. Unless raising the motor gets me a bunch of RPM increase this one may not be in the running. The aluminum Spitfires and Q3 yes, but not this one.
