This place has been CRAZY quiet lately

#1 Post by riplipper » Thu Feb 02, 2023 12:19 pm

Or am I not seeing new posts for some reason?
Figured its winter, somebody has to be working on some sort of project??
And I am always available for some not so good advice.

Yes it has.
Probably the time of year as you said, the economy is no doubt having an effect; as it is on everything else…

This time of the year, most boating forums go quiet. Couple that with the fact that pontoons by and large don't have the maintenance issues that say cabin cruisers experience with their multiple systems.

My biggest project was putting the battery charger on it. I think it deserves its own thread so please no questions here.

I don't buy the economy part of it. Yes, housing has slowed by a bunch, but restaurants seem to be busier than ever.
People still seem to be spending like fools.

We just had freezing/icy weather and no power for a couple of days, then pivoted to beautiful 70 degrees with a soft breeze.

More rain coming and that is a good thing because the lake is still low!

Quiet every year! I'll be redoing my transom next month. I have new wood (thanks PS)

And have a welder from work lined up to redo my brackets. More to come!

Does anyone have a merc motor lifter adapter that screws into the flywheel? Last time 8 of us manhandled it off and laid it on a picnic table!

Replacing the horn on my Harris. Took me an hour to find the damn thing. Hard to find when it doesn't work.
Used in salt so I guess 5 years is not too bad.
This 22 dollar part is going to take me a few man hours and many beers to replace.
The old bolt holding it in place is FROZEN as F!
At least I now know where the rust has been coming from on my toon.

Well; my tri-toon’s been out of the water since November. The airboat went in then; for going up to the hunt camp, and fishing the backwaters on the way in to camp:
