overheat alarm

#1 Post by buddythedog » Sat Jun 09, 2007 7:50 pm

I have a well maintained (well since I got it) 87 Mariner 45 horse on my 1987 20" landau. It has 2 rebuilt carbs last week, new stator, power pack, plugs, water pump/impeller and lower end lube. Now then, when running wot yesterday, after a couple of minutes, the overheat alarm went off. I put it in neutral, it immed. shut off. I then immed. resumed 75% of wot, no probs. No problems with the alarm unless I run wot. Any ideas?

Who did the work, if the water pump impeller was not installed right it would overheat at full throttle. The little rubber legs have to go the right way or when the motor is on the legs will break off not giving you enough water. Don't ask how I know this.
