Very soon, I will be posting a write-up on retrofitting your trailer with brakes.

Looking forward to this write-up. I've wondered how much cheaper to retrofit my current trailer compared to just buy a new trailer. I'm wanting to change my winch stand anyways for one with a better set of steps and handrail, like the ones on a Bear Trailer (I got a quote for $287.50 plus $100 shipping for their square tube step version and $603.75 plus $100 shipping for their version with half moon shaped steps).

At first blush, it looks like about $1,200 for everything. Now my current trailer has torsion axles (they look like 2,000 pound axles), and I'm putting on the same type, but heavier, and a better brand.

Two Axles with 10" electric drum brakes installed was about $950 including shipping. Add about $150 worth of parts, and $70 worth of rust-bullet products, and she should be there.
