It goes about half way between the tube and boat keeps the rope out of the water to prevent digging in but it does run about a 100 bucks but for us a great investment

Yep BobG that is the Boosterball, it comes with the rope already attached. And like Chris.and.Jamie said it is a great investment, if you shop around they can be found for $75 or less

Wow! Thanks for all the replies. Not to mention the many great ideas, information and links. I can tell that there are way too many choices, lol. I'll just have to let my son decide. But I do know for sure that I'll be getting the BoosterBall. I remember from my old boat how the line would drag and dig into the water spraying water in your face when you're on the tube. I appreciate your opinions and suggestions because I would've never known about the ball otherwise. Thanks again to everybody!
