Speed is not everything on a tritoon.
Horsepower disappears quickly when you load'em down with people. And when pulling tubers, the big engines maintain their speeds in tight turns much better than mid size motors.
And you can pull back on the throttle with a big motor and not have to run them hard at normal cruising speeds. (Some smaller pontoons require full throttle to get normal cruising speeds.)
There are just not that many 50+ mph tritoons, and those that got there did it with sheer horsepower and lifting strakes. And big motors use substantial gas when they're run hard.
There are performance tests on the engine manufacturers' websites to compare pontoon boats with different engine combos, including fuel mileage.

Here's where I am... I've got my heart set on a South Bay hull so it's three 25" strakes tubes... From the test I've seen on this hull it's good for mid 40's with a 300... I'm sure there's a few things you can tweak to possibly touch 50.
Options (B) and (C) honestly where only if option a falls through! I was just curious what your opinions where on these hulls.
Here's what I'm needing, I use my boat in the gulf all the time. It takes me forever to get around at my current 22mph in my current toon and its almost always a very wet ride due to the conditions in the gulf and not being able to get on step. I want a boat that will jump on plain and cruise over the waves effortlessly while being able to run around a 25-35mph cruise. There is a oil rig about 10 miles off the shore that I've always wanted to fish and haven't because I don't want to be out there and a storm come up, and I can't get back in. So that's where the 50mph idea comes in to play, and for the occasional thrill of speed! My crew isent much on skiing and all that so turning fast isent high on the list but it would still be nice!
