Re: The long road home
How does your trailer ride when hooked to tow rig? Be sure it runs level. If low in front or rear those tires carry most of the load and fail faster.

Trailer Tire Age Calculator
http://www.trailer-wheels.com/Trailer-T ... c_428.html
According to the calculator my Towmasters are from December 2006.

Pulled with a Trimax adjustable hitch, so it was level. Good point though.lakerunner wrote:How does your trailer ride when hooked to tow rig? Be sure it runs level. If low in front or rear those tires carry most of the load and fail faster.
Waiting on a call back from the dealer after our discussion yesterday morning.

Re: The long road home
Our EZ Loader trailer came with Goodyear Marathon ST185/80R13c rated at 1480lbs. They were made in New Zealand. Not long ago we replaced all the tires with new Goodyear Marathon since the originals were showing much age related drying out. The new ones purchased from discount tire were all made in China. Go figure. I keep the trailer parked off the dirt on wood and keep them protected from sunlight most of the time.
My thinking is you just had a bad batch of tires on your trailer if every thing else pans out.

Re: The long road home
Hey folks, I'm checking back in with an update.
I received a really nice phone phone call from Magic Tilt in Sarasota. They were very apologetic and promise to stand behind their product asking that I submit to them all my expenses related to the defective tires and they'll promptly reimburse me.
Under the circumstances, I can't ask for anything better when a company stands behind the product they sell and care about it's use by the consumer.
I'm about to drop my boat in the local lake for a month, then take the trailer to my tire guy who'll put everything back they way it needs to be.
The new tires need to get swapped from steel back to the galvanized rims, and one brake rotor might have gotten damaged. Also going to make sure the axles are on straight.
Life is back to almost good!

HandymanHerb wrote:Sounds like they gave you the wrong load range, We ordered new tires put on ours, got home and wondered why they looked low, pressure was right, but they had the lightest load range you can get on it, we called the guy back, he ordered D's but got sent A's and his helper didn't catch it, if we hit the road with them , we only have two, we wouldn't have made it 50 miles before we blew them
Agreed new trailer will have the cheapest pos tires they can get away with

.....Also going to make sure the axles are on straight.....
That was going to my suggestion. To shred all 5 something has to be drastically off kilter!
Glad they are going to help you out... I agree, the simplest route would be to give you a new trailer. Especially if the axles are mispositioned. Now they will have to cut and re-weld spring perches.
Good luck with it.
