I use a jiggle siphon and the only time I spill a little is when I try to fill it full. But I saw the marina do the same thing when they pumped it. I guess I shouldn't fill it to the top and then this wouldn't be an issue. But that jiggle siphon is the best thing invented. I put the gas can on the back seat and in a few minutes, 5 gallons of gas is in the tank on the boat.

I don't mind paying the extra on the lake. Just so much easier. For as much gas as I use it might come out to an extra 52.00 a year compared to the pump prices. We either put around the lake or anchor and swim. I just thought 5.25 a gallon was a lot! :scared

You guys are allowed to fill your boats at the dock? We would have a S.W.A.T. team mobilized within seconds and 6 assault rifles pointed at us before we got a gallon in... :paranoid

Sincerely,
Rich

I boat on one of the top 5 cleanest lakes in the country yet I see people doing this. I believe it's just the boats that have to mix the fuel so I don't say anything, but it drives me crazy. (not bashing...just saying :biggrin2 )

We're paying $4.44 right now. Considering there is only one gas dock on the lake I think that's pretty good. Certainly not worth bringing my own. (It's around $3.50 on land)

We're using less than half the gas on our pontoon than we used with our bow rider so I've got no complaints. :nana :nana

Just curious- why does that drive you crazy? I saw more gas spilled at a marina on the coast in one hour than I have ever spilled filling my boats over decades. If you use the jiggle siphon you should not spill any gas.
Because everyone is not as careful as you, but mainly because they use our day dock as a gas dock. :nono We're in a mooring field so we just have a day dock for picking up passengers and coolers etc....I've seen one guy pull up to the 15 min. max day dock, tie up, walk up to his cottage, put his gas in his wagon, pull it down to his boat and then take another 15 min. putting the gas in.

Sorry they abuse the day dock. Some people are just inconsiderate. In my case I am miles from a marina and have four (pontoon, runabout, 2 PWCs) different watercraft to fuel at my dock. It is much more convenient and less expensive to fill at home. It is a large lake (500 miles of shoreline) and it seems wasteful to drive out a lot of fuel just to buy more. Most people in my area do the same.
