Im in texas. And yes at slow speeds. I have a huge cove i go to and its all no wake zone and my friends keep asking if they can go up there but i tell them only when anchored cause i didnt know
This was culled from a Mercury Owner's Manual...
"BOATS WITH FRONT MOUNTED, RAISED PEDESTAL FISHING SEATS Elevated fishing seats are not intended for use when the boat is traveling faster than idle or trolling speed. Sit only in seats designated for traveling at faster speeds."
In a situation such as this I'd perhaps think about wearing the KILL CORD so that in the event of a fall over even at idle speed you would have better chance of getting the motor shut off ASAP...

On Tenkiller a few years ago a boy riding on front deck fell under and lost a leg. Never found the leg

Re: Riding in front of rail
On Lake Hopatcong in Northern New Jersey a few years ago... A child was riding in front of the rail on a rental toon going "no wake" speed, he fell in and his Dad killed him.
Toons instantly funneled him right into the prop. Do not sit up there unless anchored! Safe boating...

Rich

Re: Riding in front of rail
Even when docking the person attaching the lines to the cleats on our boat has to hold onto the rail while doing it. If the weather and traffic allow I will drop out of gear while they are being attached. DNR does allow you to be outside the rails for this purpose, but you can't stay out there. This year with the enclosure I think we will attach ropes on the door side when we unhook from the dock to make it easier.
