It's not just the splash but that's the most noticeable issue to most. The root cause is that they mounted a 25 inch shaft on an 18 inch transom so the motor rides way too low in the water. I can only get 5200-5300 rpm out of the motor from day 1 and when I talked to customer service at Brunswick the answer I got was that it is "in spec" so they can't switch to a shorter shaft motor. The long shaft versions were about 10% faster on the top end. I can't get my cavitation plate even close to out if the water. It's as high as possible and I can trim to the limit at wot and turn as hard as I can and it's not close to cavitating. I know cavitation isn't desirable but in an optimal setup you should be able to push it to that point then back off the trim.
Long story short, the boat performs better according to all tests with the long shaft instead of the XL. We will probably end up putting a manual jack plate on the boat to get the motor to the right height once we have it in writing they won't void the structural warranty on the boat.
I could see that being a HUGE problem, I built my transom 26" tall for my XL shaft engine and use the middle set of mounting holes which has the Cav plate about 1" higher than the bottom of my center tube.

Here is the new boat with the 150, not sure what length they use but it looks good
I was able to go over and apply two coats of shark hide last weekend
I will probably do another coat next weekend , you can see i was not able to do the very bottoms but when i get it on the lift
I will coat the bottom of the tubes
I don't understand why they charge so much to sharkhide a boat
it goes on quickly and is not very expensive to buy

Looks good, Mike! Nice job with the SharkHide! Its a rip off to have the dealers apply it. I've done 5 boats, 1 twice and 2 trailers, with 2 quarts and still have 1/4 of a quart left. It doesn't take much product, to go a long way. With no wax to remove, I can give 2 outside 'toons, 3 cones, 2 end caps and a transom a coat of SH in less than 30 minutes, now. What's nice is that if it gets scuffed by bumpers or something, just go right over it before the tarnish sets in. It blends right in.
Your new Harris will look good for a long time! Do your trailer, too! It won't sun fade, I do all my trailers and even the patio furniture. I even coated my smoker that sits outside year around! Shines like new after 3 years...
