Thanks, FLOUNDERPOUNDER.That would have to be your name since it's my life's fishing ambition to catch one.
After the last 2 times out, I think I'm getting better at maneuvering the boat into a softer ride. Last week I passed some big boats going the other way and found that if I slow down while hitting the wake, it's okay. Then if I get into that boat's wake in the middle, it's quite a smooth ride. As for the waves, slowing down works too. I'm not a speed demon so it doesn't bother me.

Here is a link that most closely resembles how I flounder fish up here in Pensacola, patience is key. flounder will suck on the bull minnow, so when your rod bends as your drifting you don't want to immediately snatch it up, I pick it up and let some line out, then slowly apply some pressure, you'll feel the pulling action, then after a minute or so pull back to set the hook.

Thankyou, FLOUNDERPOUNDER! Seems like I'm on the right track. I drift and I am very patient. My jig is good but maybe more weight. But the water available is 7-8 feet and 3 miles from the coast. I should switch to real bait, not rubber. And there are a couple good pointers I picked up.
