All three sons and grandkids are coming here from upstate SC, NC, and Florida. Hopefully, my daughters-in-law will do the cooking because my wife is unable to, and I certainly can't (at least not anything worth having for a Thanksgiving celebration). I suggested taking everyone out to dinner, but my wife doesn't like that idea.

Lakerunner,

thanks for ordering. I'll make sure it goes out soon. My dad takes care of that stuff. I forgot to mention, when you pour in the brine, make sure you get all the little bits of spices into the jar with your eggs.

Enjoy.

We will be going to my parent's house. They are only 45 minutes away. I have 3 brothers and they will be there with their families. I have a nephew that lives nearby also and his family is normally there.

We eat early ... noon or 1. Mom is a hell of a cook and will have turkey and all the trimmings. She is probably cooking something as I type this... she does alot of things ahead of time so it isn't so hectic on Thanksgiving day. Mom grew up on a farm and then was a stay at home Mom. Having 5 kids and not being rich you sure learn how to cook. We will be watching football all day just enjoying each others company. She always makes a ham as well IF anyone get hungury in the evening we can make sandwiches.

exo, i do a very similar batch of pickled eggs every year, but i replace about a
quarter to a third of the eggs (per jar) with sliced carrots, shallots, garlic,
peppers (green, red, orange, yellow and white), sweet vidalias, a few small
hot peppers (whole). this year i'll probably toss in some mushrooms, olives
and radishes. what's with the sugar in your recipe? i've never tried that.
like me you're heavy on the vinegar and light on the water, so i wouldn't think
the sugar would cause any bacterial growth, right? i usually age about 3 to 4
weeks or more.

If ya'll remember back in May I posted on the PDB Forum about the health of my mother. In short, she was diagnosed with lukemia and given 2 weeks to 2 months to live. Thanksgiving all the family is going to mom and dad's house and mom is insisting on cooking the turkey and dressing! The rest of us will bring the rest of the food. We are very thankful she is still with us and looking forward to Christmas too now. She is weak and has to work a little and rest but over all doing good. We tried to convince her to let us do the turkey and dressing but she insisted saying it will probably be her last time. Everyone is making a point to be there this year.

Enjoy it sdhawk , I know it sucks as I lost my Mom to early, but enjoy the day and make it last, I still remember the last night I got to spend with Mom while she was still doing good .

We were watching a Magic game in their Bus parked at my Brother's house, she was in rare form and was having a great time, my brother Dad and I were watching it with her, we were kidding around and having a great time, then the next morning they put her in the hospital bed we had set up for her and she died that night at 3 am.

I'm just glad God gave her one good last night and then took her home quick.

So God Bless you and the whole family

We have a very similiar recipe we use to make pickled sausage. We take precooked bratwurst and use the same mixture as above. We cut the brats into about 1/2 inch thick slices and cover with the brine. Same general idea but suasage instead of eggs. Since my wife made the first batch of suasages awhile back, I have been thinking about the eggs I used to see in the gallon jars in the bar when I used to go there.
