You can attest to how well Premier treats their customers on our lake even though we have no dealers physically on the lake!! Do you think Premier / Winnisquam Marine would make you buy a trailer or rent one to bring your boat to them for a warranty issue. Please tell everyone here how ridiculous that is and how well you have been treated thus far!

Dan
Yep, I have been on here since my family and I got into tooning/boating. We had a lot of questions back then and I found this place to get a lot of the answers.
As far as Winnisquam Marine n Premier pontoons go, I have nothing but praise for both, and have recommended them to folks on here many many times. Winnisquam has always treated us great. When we were shopping around for a new toon, we looked at everything around our neck of the woods, and while we felt that Benningtons and Premiers were basically equal in construction, the Premiers did get the edge as far as comfortable seats went, and the biggest reason we went with Premier was the dealership, hands down. Winnisquam asked many questions and tried to make sure we would be getting a toon that would do everything we wanted, and fit our budget. The other dealers just tried to sell us whatever they had on the floor, and failed to return phone calls/emails about the boats we were considering. Winnisquam always responded promptly. I figured if the other dealers couldn't bother to respond before they got our money they most certainly wouldn't respond after they got our money, and Winnisquam has been a pleasure to deal with since the sale. Things haven't always gone off without a hitch, but when things did get fouled up(and lets face it shit happens) they have always gone above and beyond to make it right.
We do HIGHLY recommend Winnisquam Marine and Premier Pontoons.
I do hope that things work out for you.

I just went back and re read the posts in a hope that Manitou was going to step up and stand behind their boats and at the very least send out a rep to inspect the boat, and unless it was edited out I dont see any such thing.

Hell, depending on the costs I might be willing to chip in to see what a factory rep has to say

Wow.... what an entertaining thread! In all honesty I can see both sides have valid issues.... In reading these posts it seemed to me that Dan was pretty damn angry and that anger came thru in his post.... didn't help when the manitou rep called him a liar..... 4 pages of various posts, and no resolution... at this point it seems this has turned into a pissing contest.... time to tone down the rhetoric OR....... :box Just sayin!!!!

I don't see any reason to edit, remove or relocate this post as I am being asked to do via PM by Manitou. Step it up and fix his damn boat. :x He paid out the ass for it and has insurance. If the issues were caused by an impact, he could have simply filed an insurance claim.

Is NOT taking care of this guy worth your reputation ???

Had one of your reps called me a liar, I'd be in your office right now and stayed until my boat was fixed, ordering pizzas, hanging out and explaining my problem loudly to potential customers until I was satisfied.

IF that didn't work, I'd hang a sign on it detailing the defects and park it in a high traffic location.

But that's just me.

Fix his boat, problem solved.

This is an open and honest forum, we don't hide things or protect companies like PDB does. No advertiser $$$ (err bribes), so no influence to hide things :thumbsup :thumbsup

It's pretty damn easy to send a rep to go look at his boat.

Yes, absolutely.

I toured their factory before I bought my boat and they were rightfully proud of showing the quality of the structure, welding work, workmanship, and QA, which was top notch. I'd think they'd want to know what went wrong, rather than assume from pictures. From what I saw that day this sort of thing is probably very rare. Unfortunately that doesn't help Dan, who just wants to fix it right.

I agree, at this point if they have rep's in the area I don't see why no one could take a look. Especially when he paid big money for it.

I also don't think this thread should go away. BMR is right... It shouldn't get taken down at a Company's request. As a Manitou owner I DO want to see how this plays out. My next one would probably be a Manitou basically because I happen to like mine (no issues so far) and marina/dealer loyalty. But, I gotta admit...it's a concern now.

I would bet Manitou only asked that the NAMES of the dealers in the OP's area, with which they had a falling out, be edited.

Since nobody wants to tell me where Dan is located I used those names to narrow it down some.

Anyway Manitou, the oar is in your dingy . . . A $60,000 purchase is hanging in the balance and that is just ME!

INSPECT TH BOAT! INSPECT TH BOAT! INSPECT TH BOAT!...... I never once read in this post where Dan asked for money or even for them to fix anything. Just an inspection. I it were my company, I would DAMN sure want to inspect it for the simple reason that IF he just let it go and someone got injured or killed, he would surely sue and that would most likely do them in. If they go inspect it now, they could possibly release themselves from liability if they can prove now that there was damage and that the boat is unsafe. Sucks to be in Dan's shoes right now. I feel for ya! Sucks to be in Mani's shoes but damn sure don't feel for you after that kind of service!

that is some BS right there asking for that.
I took a screenshots of their posts in case they change or delete them. Ill post them if needed.
It looks like Manitou has lost about 3-4 sales just from people that have posted something in this thread, and we all know there are people who just lurk and will visit here in the future.

a couple of hours of a rep's time would have prevented all of this, must be nice to be able give away customers like that in this economy.

Pretty cool though! This web site got a response from the president of the company. Since we all left the politically correct and bullshit riddled PDB site and formed this site it's grown to the point that I'm sure all pontoon boat manufacturers view it daily but more importantly, prospective customers stop here first too. This is simply because we call'em as we see'em.

That having been said, This is an excellent chance for Manitou to score a PR home run and simply fix the problem. Their cost would be minimal and the good will gained would be well worth the price. Welding aluminum is not that expensive and that's all we are really looking at here.

And the bigger picture is, the pontoon community is smaller and a lot closer nit than boating in general, in my case its tooners and ever one else, several members here also belong to other forms and one in particular has over 400,000 members, so a words spreads real fast and with a potential reader ship of 500,000 plus, well it can be very bad for a company. But I am waiting to see. Right now tempers are running high so perhaps over the weekend and a few beers things will settle down.

OMG !!! I cannot beleive an oem got sucked into a thread about one customers boat. I have always thought very highly of manitou boats and still do but it's amature hour in the office. I have been on other forums(snow removal) where a manufacture got involved in product issue with a customer. It didn't end up well and since the factory was a sponsor the thread was closed in a few days. I think the fact that this forum isn't tied to advertisers makes it a true open place to talk about the good and the bad. I don't know weather the boat in question has a warranty issue or self induced damage. What makes my jaw drop is the mfg. getting involved in a single complaint on the internet over a 5 year old boat. Manitou needs to remember people go to the internet when things go wrong , and rarely when they are good. Who ever made the posts here directed at the original poster is way to thin skinned and needs to be moved away from the computer. Just think how many bad posts there are about ford, gm ,apple, you name it. They never go and adress an idividule customer on the internet. I again have to say that I really like the maitou boats and the new rear floor plans realesed this year. I talked to a rep at the detroit boat show and was pleased with the info. I guess now I need to read name tags at the next boat show l.o.l. This thread is a case study in "how not" to deal with a cutomer issue.
