The more I think about this, the more I think the company should at the very least take a look at Dan's boat... Instead of being pro active at the outset and showing themselves in a good "PR" light, now it's damage control... As we all know, word of mouth is the best ( or in this case, the worst ) advertisement...... even if they don't have a rep in Dan's area they should send someone to take a look at his boat.... a few years back I had to replace a couple of heat pumps at my home... after 2 years, one of the units was giving me trouble... Installing contractor came out over and over and was never able to fully resolve the issue... next thing I know the contractor has a rep from the manufacturer fly from South Carolina to Louisiana to "take a look" at the unit... 2 days later contractor pulled up with a brand new 5 ton heat pump that they put in at absolutely no charge to me..... my point is not that they put in a free heat pump, but that they sent a rep from several states away to look at the problem, and then fixed it.... good customer service, good pr move... as a result, I'll buy from them again... like I said, it would just be a good PR move on Manitou's part...

Hey manitou,

Take a page out of JC Manufacturings handbook. I had a crack happen in one of my toons and they paid for it to be welded. Happened in a second one and they paid again. Two months later they sent 2 brand new ones for my dealer to install free under warranty! During the winter not to affect my summer fun! The results, repeat business. Bought my second JC last year!

Manitou will never be considered by me now!

Lets not convict and sentence them just yet. The jury is still hearing evidence. Notice that the OP and the factory rep have been silent for a while. I bet they're talking. Let's just chill and see when they report back.

First off, I want to thank everyone here and all those who emailed me for your support on this matter. I must say I am completely blown away at how supportive you all have been and at how many people are really here both posting and behind the scenes!

A representative from Manitou has been in touch with me via email and they have agreed to send a marine surveyor to view the boat and determine whether or not this is impact related.

I will keep this board and everyone who has emailed updated as things progress. I will abide by whatever outcome the surveyor comes to good or bad. Manitou has agreed to replace or repair all issues if no evidence of impact appears.

This is all I wanted from the beginning and am sorry it had to come down to this public thread.

Thank you all again!

Dan

Excellent advise!
I bet things come together for ya now, Dan. I'm glad you guys are talking. Manitou is a great company, I never, ever had a problem with them. Companies don't run themselves, people run them, and sometimes those people can have an off day, too. Human nature. I've been known have a bad day and let my RV lift at the wrong person. Sometimes ya gotta step back and let someone with a cool head prevail. I think this was one of those situations. Hopefully you and the wife can get on board the boat with assurance its safe and have some fun the rest of the season. The end of it is coming too quickly. And I think you deserve a good day on the water!
Keep us posted, Buddy...

Thats why their are forums in the first place and why this one really stands out. Its more of a boat owners association. Not a bought and payed for captive audience of a store of a boat manufacturer. +

I am very glad your getting a inspection and if understood you correctly that's all you wanted in the first place and I would of to especially with a high HP toon.
If it aint broke your not having enough fun

That's really good news. A surveyor is a neutral party, so you should get a fair assessment of what's going on. Keep us posted!

I've said this before on here... nothing pisses me off more than a marina or manufacturer that treats you like they're doing you a favor.

I'm sick and tired of this crap.
Just verified it on Snopes. Liberals are complete mouth breathing idiots.

Wow, what a story. This is exactly why we need these forums, keep customer service at the top of the priority list for the different pontoon builders. When someone spends a small fortune for a toy, you want the factory to make you feel like they actually care about you, your safety and your future business! I am actually looking forward to reading how this shakes out! Kudos for the president getting involved and making things happen, my guess is he will be the ONLY one to every post on our forum from that company in the future. :fasttoon

Update:

Met with Marine Surveyor today who did a very thorough examination of my boat. He actually showed up at the launch with the person who did the original welding, even I had never met him!! I was quite impressed with this gentleman's knowledge and how he examined in detail the areas of concern. I was also surprised at his specific knowledge of pontoon boats!! This guy surveys everything from the largest ocean going vessels to the smallest wooden classics and everything in between! There is no doubt this guy knows his stuff.

Anyway, he was not allowed to give me his findings or discuss his thoughts as he is working for and reports directly to Manitou. I am sure Manitou will be in touch with me once they receive his report.

As I stated previously, I will standby with whatever his findings have determined.

Stay tooned!

Dan
