Well the first snow caught us way off guard, I went out at 3:30 am to check everything and the snow was maybe 1 1/2" and not really sticking to many areas, went back to bed. Wife and youngest son wake me to this, in 3 hours we picked up 4 more inches, enough to snap the tree

AWWWWWW man that sucks.

I have bee seeing all these pics with powerlines down after trees broke off. They need to do as our power Co's do around here. They keep lines clear 15ft on each side of powerlines

Wouldn't work for this tree was sitting in the middle of my yard, said was. I'm an arborist by trade and the last thing a tree wants to do is piss me off at 6am Saturday in a wet snow when the wife needs to go to work(rural postal woman)

HOw's the toon? Looks like it took a hit too.

Bummer, here in Boise it was almost 70 yesterday. I grew up in Alaska and HATE snow, hard to believe it hit so early and hard over on your side of the country... I wonder if you guys are in for a rough winter? Oh ya, hope the toon is ok!

Lucky for us that the only damage was the toon's cover was ripped all the way from side to side, it was the orignal,11 years old, I'm going to order an aftermarket to get through the winter and either order one from Tracker or give the old one to a canvas shop as a template. I though for sure that the wifes car would have taken a good hit but there wasn't a mark on it, and other than the cover the toon suffered no damage. Think that the tree was drooping so much from the snow that it didn't build up any momentum went it finally snapped. Has anyone here seen a Dura shield cover(think that is the name)just need something to get through the winter. They seem not to cost that much

Hope it isn't a sign of the up coming winter at least not like 2009, we had 57" of snow that year and while I have lived in areas that would have gladly taken that meager amount, for this area it is a mess, even though we live in the mountains( Massanutten 4 season resort) it cripples this area the people for the most part seem to go brain dead when they have to deal with snow.

If I were you I would check with your insurance 1st if u have full coverage I know my policy covers this type of stuff.

I think Boise would be a mess too but it seems that the area is at least prepared for the possibility of big snow. I just moved into nice older house with a real wood burning fireplace, I will have full backup power and heat at my fingertips very soon. That will feel good! Well and septic and no HOA's also lets me sleep better every night! Now I just need a snow plow and I will be ready for all manner of evil weather...

Second that on the "No HOA's" they have good points but also alot of bad. In our neighborhood when we first moved here in the covenants it stated that no tree over three inches in diameter couldn't be cut down without approval, then they changed it to no live trees, well this is not a native as the previous owner planted it when he had the house built, I am already get the look as if I should have left half the tree up, but being in the trade one of the worst trees you can plant close to a house is a Braddford Pear unless it is the Cleveland Select and even that is not much better. I guess the tree got me in a way as I had told it that as soon as the leaves were off it was coming down

Pretty sure that it does but the cover is around 775.00 and I am pretty sure we have 1000.00 deductible

I would check with a tarp shop last one I had done was like 2200 for a good one an that was in 03. The after market ones from online order places were good for a year or 2 in my past experiences with them.

Hey Hey, I am the VP of the HOA in my area. We dont bully folks but junk ass cars on blocks in the front yard want fly here. You know we are close to Alabama so some of those folks migrate over this way looking for a house instead of a trailer.....

Some HOA's are good

My feelings are if I buy property, I make my own rules. I couldn't live under an HOA.

Dead nuts on. My proprerty I do what I damn well please on it, and that damn well includes having a parts rig or project car kicking around.
HOAs can go fuc* themselves, I don't care how "nice" they say they are, it is still ends up being some Jackwagon telling ME how to live and act on MY PROPERTY.
