boys and girls, I am one unhappy camper.... not pissed at any one person, just in general over the events that have taken place this past week. My wife is a school teacher and she has this week off for spring break... I suggested that I take a week of vacation so that she and I could get the boat spruced up and spend at least 3 or 4 afternoons out on the lake..... but somehow, something always went wrong and kept getting in the way... I knew I had too much to do this past weekend but we thought surely by monday or so we could get things rolling.. but noooooooooooooo!

Monday... wife woke up with some health issues... called her doctor, but couldn't get in til mid afternoon... by the time she got thru and picked up her prescriptions it was really too late to go get the boat... no problem, we'll go tomorrow....

Tuesday- planned to take the boat out around 3 pm and spend about 4 hrs on the lake.. but first I had scheduled an appointment with my heat pump guy to come out and do their annual service on my heat pumps.. appointment was scheduled for 1 pm... 2:45 rolls around, nobody shows up... I call the office, get voice mail.. I leave a message to call me and let me know if they're on the way... never got a call back...before you knew it it was too late to get the boat again... I know, I should have left a note on the front door that said " :censored you... try showing up on time ".. but the guy that owns the company really took care of me when I was having issues with a year old heat pump last year... I mean he replaced the entire unit at no cost to me... but I did call and leave a voice mail around 7:30 letting them know I had burned a vacation day to sit here and twiddle my thumbs all afternoon... no problem, we'll go tomorrow.... ( fyi- they called 8 am the next morning and apologized and service tech was here within an hour )

Wednesday - got up, ran some errands and getting ready to go get the toon for the first time this year when my wife comes out to the garage and says the wx forecast is calling for storms the next day... thinks we should do the yard work before we go get the boat... half way thru the yard work, riding mower goes on the fritz... took me 2 hours to get it working again.... by the time we're done, once again, too late to go... no problem, we'll go tomorrow....

Thursday... I had an early afternoon dr. appointment... but I was home by 2 pm... said let's go get the boat... we get up to the new boat storage facility that we just moved the boat to... I put in the access code at the gate... dosn't work... try it again, dosn't work... call the office... yeah, something is wrong with the way it's programmed, and the guy that fixes that won't be back til later in the evening.... are you kidding me... no problem, we'll go tomorrow....

Friday... we're going to go get the boat, I don't care what else happens, I'm on vacation and I'm taking the boat out... we are walking out the door and my wife's cell phone rings.... a relative telling us that my wife's 83 year old father is ill...nothing serious enough to be hospitilized for, but enough for us to drive over there... she has to spend the day there.. in fact she is spending the night there just to make sure he's ok.. ( he's widowed so no one else is normally there ) no problem, we'll go tomorrow....

Saturday... who the :censored knows what's going to happen tomorrow or sunday... I give up. As I said at the outset... the best laid plans.......

Get up, get the boat and go. There is nothing that can't wait until tomorrow.

A few years ago, my nephew planned his wedding during Canal Days...all I said was, "too bad, I'll be at Canal Days" :rofl :rofl :rofl

+1. I agree with 1roadking. "There is nothing that can't wait until tomorrow." Proscrastinate NOW! Just get in the boat and leave your troubles behind you.

I agree. You just have to do it. I guess the best thing to do know find comfort that the season has just started....many good days ahead.

Roland, I can empathize with you. I've had weeks and weeks like that.
Old Dog, I once thought about joining the Procrastinators Club, but I waited too long.

All's well that ends well.... my wife returned from her ailing fathers house about 1:30 saturday afternoon, and by 2 pm we were on the way to pick up the boat... gotta tell you, you guys were right about me moving the boat to the more expensive, but much closer storage facility... normally it would take me an hour to go where I used to keep the boat, hook up and pull it back to the house to pick up the wife... then it would be another 20 minutes to the lake.. today we left at 2 pm, stopped and picked up the boat and was on the lake at 2:40..... it was great... we use a very small boat launch, but I like it because the water is 10 to 15 feet deep as soon as you pull off the trailer... but because it's so small, parking is a bitch and as you can imagine the parking lot was stuffed when we got there.. no problem, I backed that baby thru the crowd and hit the water... motor ran great... don't know the actual speed but at wot she was turning just a hair under 6000 rpms... which according to a yamaha rep I talked to when I re propped last year was just about perfect.... my only fear is ( and most of you know this from my previous posts ) loading the boat back on the trailer...with that in mind we went back about 30 minutes before dark to beat the rush of incoming boats... momma backed the trailer down and I drove the toon right up to the stops on the first try..... launch and load could not have been any easier...... and you guys were right about something else.... as I was cruising around the lake taking in the sights I thought to myself, " why the hell have I waited all week to do this.... " Nothing like a nice day on the lake cruising and fishing.....
