Newb here....do most of you guys fly a flag off your toon? If so do you use the standard taylor made mounts or something more creative? I was thinking of flying 2 at the back of the toon...American flags.....and also when not flying those...my favorite sports team? Is this a newb mistake / idea ? Thanks!

Toons have a disadvantage of mounting things. I just bought a flag pole and it mounts to the back rail around the sun pad. It's not what I wanted but it works. I never had a problem mounting things like tow bars and flags on my ski boats but I still like my toon.

We have ours mounted on the ski bar.

Heck it is your toon fly what ever you want. About the only thing to understand the larger the flag to more sturdy and secure the mounting needs to be, While screws make be good for the smaller flags, small bolts may be needed for the larger one plus a stable and secure mounting surface.

Just went through this for Memorial Day. For what ever reason I wanted it mounted in the center of the toon, not off to the side on a railing. At first I was going to mount onto the ski tow bar, but realized that was not the best idea, and then it dawned on me I already had the perfect place - the anchor light on the bimini. Thus bought two nylon clips and in less than a minute I was flying the Stars and Stripes

BTW flags on any boat are cool, I also ordered a GATOR flag for when football rolls around - GO GATORS!!!!!!

Here is a cheap solution. I just took a small rope and ran it through the eyes on the flags. I tied knots bigger than the eyes, which keeps the flags spread out and in place along the rope. Then I tied the top of the rope to the bimini support. In the picture you will see the rest of the rope "dangling" as I was testing the idea and did not want to cut the rope until I saw it was going to work. I actually put a very small loop at the very top and very bottom of the rope. Now to put the flags up I just attach the loop to the small bungee cord you see wrapped around the rail. I leave the little bungee cords there (one on the rail at the bottom and one at the top on bimini support) all the time, so I just hook the rope/loops to them and the flags are flying proudly in about 20 seconds. So far, so good.

I just zip tie mine to my VHF antenna, but it's only up for Canal Days.

What size flag are you flying?

I use my EzFenders. They accept 1/2 dowel and then just thumbscrew it tight. I mounted a pair vertically on the inside of an upright rail. When I take the flag down, I just put it in upside down to store it.

mounted mine on sun deck just back far enough to let pole rest on railing. 3.00 at walmart

I used a piece of 1" pvc pipe and painted it to match my tow bar. It just follows the slight angle of my tow bar up, then notice the threaded coupler so I can unscrew it easily.
