Shark hide cleaning
So my toon is new, but unfortunately (in this case) it was put in the water (fresh) by the dealer for prop testing etc before I brought her home. I know that in ideal situations I would want to protect it first, but I can't change the past! So I have a very slight water line mark that I know I can't get rid of, but I can live with it.
My question is I want to clean it and then protect it. When I clean it I plan on using sharkhide, but I don't want the whitish color. I just want to clean it enough to keep the current color and then protect it. What is the proper ratio in order to do this? Do I need to clean it with shark hide in order to use the protectant?
Thanks!

Re: Shark hide cleaning
I would think for just a slight water line you would be further ahead to give it a light polish then apply the sealant. The cleaner is an acid and you could end up streaking and changing color by using it.

Re: Shark hide cleaning
I would just wash it with soap & water rinse good, let dry then apply SharkHide. You can power wash without soap and that should clean it also.
My dealer water tested ours before shark hide then had to clean tubes and it looks great.
Let us know what your wot is and what prop you have on your motor. I have the same motor as you do and am interested in your performance.

Re: Shark hide cleaning
Thanks for the replies! I will be placing my order today. One other question. Would I be able to do all 3 toons with one can?
Gramps, I have a 3 blade 15 pitch aluminum prop on it. I have not gone wot yet, but the dealer said he clocked 38-40 mph on their trial runs. I got it up to 30 with 6 people on it and felt that I could have gone faster. I will record what I get when I go out next.

Re: Shark hide cleaning
You will need 2 cans of SharkHide for tritoon.
They put a 4 blade prop on ours and I get 34 mph, the manual claims that a 4 blade is better for fuel consumption but you lose a few mph.

Fine toon, I forgot to ask are you sure you have an aluminum prop? I have only seen ss on these motors. If it is in fact Aluminum please let me know what dia & pitch it is.
The Aluminum props are a lot cheaper to replace than ss and if you have one and it works good it's something that I will keep in mind.

Hi gramps,
Here are the details ... mercury part number 48-78116CP1 -- 15 1/4 x 15 aluminum --- pitch is 15 and the diameter is 15 1/4.
Hope this helps!
