Think the ones mentioned so far are pretty good. I had a claim with allstate when I popped the end cap off one of my toons. They were timely in visiting the dealer to check the damage and gave the dealer the go ahead to replace the toon. Glad they didn't want to try and repair the damaged one. Bottom line they didn't try to cheap out on the repair. Had another claim about a computer. Didn't even think it would be covered and they paid for my new one although it was more in price than the damaged one. Talked with their rep and she had me a check by the end of the week. Guess you can have problems with any insurance company but they have been more than fair with me

I think the main thing is to have insurance. Mine is the same on cars, house, boat, and rhino Allstate. I don't know how I got hooked up with them but pay them every year and never had a claim.

I was in the process of getting BoatUS. Contacted them and had it all set up. But the day I picked up my boat was a Sunday and BoatUS wasn't open. I wasn't going to take delivery of the boat for that reason. The marina contacted another company. There coverage was same or better. The price was slightly less. The company name is Global Marine Insurance. Talked with insurance man that day. Had insurance that day. The internet sure makes things easier. The best part of the insurance was the towing coverage. Limit of $1000 and no deductible. Annual premium is $269 per year. $42,000 worth of coverage.

I have Progressive, but that chick on TV is really starting to annoy me. I don't like that long haired hippie who gives away free gas either.

Yep. I had a damn near $26,000 claim last year and they only raisde my insurance $75 for 7/2012-7/2013. Their towing is the best out there and you get get towing coverage for trailering boats.

When I went to insure my boat this year, I was told it would cost $500/yr, high deductible, 300K, & cover the boat for 11K. I see their point. It's an 18 yr old boat, but it had a lot of stuff replaced last year & underskinned. Then the agent told me that if I had a "survey" done (cross between an inspection & an appraisal) my rates could get lower. Since I couldn't replace the boat in like condition for 3X $11K, I wanted 20K of ins., just in case. I got the survey done.

The survey cost me $320, but my ins. now costs me $340.00/yr. with a $400 deducible, 300K liability & 20K comprehensive. Apparently the survey helped quite a bit. The ins. company sent me my policy which said I paid $275.00. I suppose the rest of my $340.00 went to the ins. rep. which I don't begrudge as he was very helpful. But next year I'm going direct to the ins. company. I'm insured with American Modern Home Insurance Company. A boat survey is good for as long as one owns the boat, although they it will get pro-rated down (depreciation) if not updated.

My boat passed with full honors. The inspector said my boat was in better than new shape in a few areas, overall in like-new condition. He had to squawk something lest they think we're in collusion, so he said that I should get a better hook/chain on my anchors. That I should move the rear anchor so as not to rub a hole in the potable water tank (in a few years) and something else as equally minor.

Guess I have to put in :2cents

I have State Farm on everything. Never had a problem period. Toon ins is $114 but there are alot of different policies and to say which one is best is near quite impossible. Progressive as stated above is owned by someone I have no intentions of supporting. Yep! and the gal in white has outlived her usefulness.

Allstate left a bad taste when I tried to get ins on my car after returning from VN in 1966. Their policy said "No coverage to returning military from Vietnam for a period of 2 years." I'm sure that bit them in the butt, but over time no one remembers. Wanna Bet !! When I asked State Farm about the policy, their comment was "WHAT"?

Shop around. Get the best deal for the best coverage...
