HOW TO?
Can anyone give me " step by step " instructions on how to set up my pontoon forum account so that when someone send's me a "pm", I get an email notification. I went thru my account settings and all I was able to find was a place where my email address was located, but nothing that said anything about sending an email notification if I received a pm. I ask because I had 2 pm's sitting there for quite awhile and just never noticed they were there... Thanks guys, I appreciate it...

From the user control panel, go to "board preferences" and make sure the "yes box" is checked for email notifications of pm's.ROLAND wrote:Can anyone give me " step by step " instructions on how to set up my pontoon forum account so that when someone send's me a "pm", I get an email notification. Carl... I checked my settings like you suggested and they were all good... I even enabled the pop up window for pm's.... then I re-submitted it to see if that makes any difference... but you know I havent' been able to find anywhere in there that has my email address... i have an aol account, and I did see a place for aol instant messanger, but not email.. think this could be the problem?

That's the darndest thing Carl... I checked that last night before I sent you that pm... and my email address is in there, so I don't know why I'm not getting email notifications.. . perhaps one of the nice administrators can look at it and correct it for me... or tell me what is wrong with the set up.

Re: HOW TO?
On another forum that I am a member of they experienced an issue that the mail subsystem for phpbb had been 'compromised' and the hosting service/server had disabled the functionality. That site had to hire an outside company to come 'clean up' the mail system, which really means they forced them to update to the latest/greatest phpbb before they would reactivate the abiltity to use the php mail() function.

its early, give me a break, I just wasted an hour (5a-6a) udpdating DNS records (5 minutes to do the actual update and then wait an hour to test that they transferred correctly) and then I tested the website functionality and had to let the web developer/host know that his new site was broken in 7 different ways. I also had to let him know that using his own internal DNS server for route our MX records is a bad idea... 10.0.0.1 is a private IP, not the public one from Trend Micro that he is supposed to use...
I had a great weekend pontooning! Pulled the toon down the Pelican Lake, MN again, tried out the new tube (Rave Slingshot 3 person) had some friends out with their 2 little ones that are about the same ages as mine, very relaxing. My wife traded in her '06 Equinox (123k) for a '12 Tahoe (7k, GM program car, great discount off "new"), we used that for pulling the pontoon, it worked great, 100 more hp and seating for 8 instead of 5 like the pickup. Both the pickup and the Tahoe get the same 8-10mpg while towing, so we may as well go in style. I think the dog liked having an actual area to sit too instead of being 'wedged' in the back seat of the extended cab of the pickup (he sat on the seat, not the floor, but when he has to share the seat with 2 kids car seats, he didn't get much room).
