Under Skin So how much lift can it give your pontoon? how do you measure it?

asking about Lift? the skin stops the water from splashing against the cross members causing a herky jerky ride. IT helps smooth it out. Don't be starting trouble. It is better to NOT ask questions that you have not answered for other products you hawk. No one here is selling the skinning, It is something I did and am very glad I did it. Ride is much smoother with it than without :2cents
oh and I measured it using my butt dyno.

Hey Tooning Around...

Skinning doesnt create lift. Im thinking .0001. Kinda like those tap fin things some bone head was hawking on another web site awhile back... :smoke
You should email a guy named Malcom here: info@conradmarine.com
He can tell you all about those tap fin things and how they will solve world hunger.
Just dont expect any engineering data to prove any of his claims. :tofunny

Also,
I put duct tape on my ass, and now i get a way smoother ride!
Funny enough, i measured mine with my butt dyno as well. :nana

Underskinning, for a small investment gets you more bang for your buck than $3000 for Tap Fins that:

Void your hull warranty.

Prevent use of a boat lift after install.

Company is owned by a complete moron who abuses his customers.

Provide no lift at all for larger vessels.

Strakes are factory installed, cheaper and look better.

If not welded, are held on by epoxy, which will fail in a marine environment.

Underskinning is the way to go.

I know where the tap fin responses are comming from but Im not sure if tooning around was serious or not...anyhow underskinning will help some if you have problems with water hitting your cross members...I never have gotten around to it yet but I have heard positive things from underskinning about helping it smooth the ride. It wont help with "lift" but it does help with noise and a jerky ride in rougher water.

Well he DID always talk to himself by using various trolls at PDB, so e-mailing himself isn't much of a stretch.

Like Walt said, what a tool. :tofunny

At least here he doesn't have Brady pretending to be his friend yet PMing people telling everyone how stupid he really is. :tofunny

OK I gotta ask?????? What is going on here, I am new to pontoons. I have grown up on boats and I have had four prior to last year when I bought my toon. From reading the posts...I am guessing this guy goes to sites ask a questions about a type of lift and then gives a sells pitch on his item? I am new to the toons so can someone enlighten me on how you can lift a toon? Is this the metals rails that are on the side of the toon? Dont yell at me....just wanna be informed....LOL, although reading your post made me laugh. :tofunny

His name is Malcom Sohm, he works for Conrad Marine down in Lake Norman, NC. He sells a product called "Tap Fins", a welded on fin that if you install them, voids your hull warranty. 1 or 2 manufacturers offered them as an option but not much anymore.

To get around that, he tried gluing them on, which looked like hell.

He was friends with the admins at PDB, who let him do whatever he wanted there for years until massive complaints got him removed. If we asked questions, we got nasty PMs from the admins there telling us to stop harrassing Goofy and that he was too stupid to create troll accounts. :tofunny

The troll accounts he creates all have one thing in common:

They all LOVE Tap Fins and Malcom. That's all they ever post about. He even pretended to be a hadicapped guy who couldn't get on a pontoon unless it had Tap Fins on it.

He used Disney names as trolls, hence the Disney references. Goofy was his primary, Pluto, MinnieMouse, WinniethePoo, etc. There were a dozen others including tooning around and possible Rockymax as well.

We all have been asking him for engineering and test data proving his product, which cost thousands of dollars, is any more beneficial to underskinning, which costs a few hundred at most.

Nothing in 6 years, he just posts the same photos over and over claiming increased "lift", "helps the handicapped" (yeah, wtf ??), saves fuel, , blah blah blah....

He even threatened to beat us all up once for making fun of his "Fins"....ROFL :tofunny

At one point he offered a PDB member a free set in exchange for a fair write up, but Malcom renegged.

Then when we all got banned at PDB he followed us here.

I think he missed me or something. :tofunny

Boy if that doesnt sum it all up, nothing does!!
Feel good to get that off your chest without having to worry it would get deleted in 15 mins BMR?
ROFL!!! :guitar

So... ya... what he said.. :)
Plus dont forget these other tidbits....
- He cant spell worth a #$%#!.... i mean literally... i suck as a typist, but this guy is way beyond help to the point of it being hilarious!
- He never admits to being Malcom in any of his other accounts. I mean he'll just log back in as someone else, and basically complete a story he had started logged in as the previous account... Typos and all!!
Its a beautiful thing! :tofunny :tofunny
