Cooling System Question

So I've been tinkering around with my DT200 Suzuki, trying to get it dialed in. I bought it in the winter, for a good price. Could't hear it run, but it had good compression and good spark so I took a chance. Well...after a few minor issues I got it fired up. Took it to the lake for a test ride and it wouldn't idle in the water. So I figured carbs need cleaned, home I go. Cleaned the carbs, thought I'd try running it in a barrel to simulate the real world. Well that didn't work, with the big motor as soon as I put it in gear if blows all the water out of my small barrell :hammer . So I clean every thing up, and the next time I get around to tinkering with it I hook up the muffs...and no water. Nothing from the Pee hole. OK...maybe I smoked the impeller whith the barrel mess. Finialy today I pulled the pump, and it looks good? What do you guys think? Is it possible some thing got dislodged and is just blocking the Pee hole? :donno

Something could certainly be blocking the pee hole. Try unclogging it with some heavy mono or something similar. I would go ahead and replace the impeller since you have it off though and can't be sure about how old it is.

one easy thing to check it the hose for the pee hole. I have had mine clogged more than once from wasps. Call em dirtdobbers here in Ga. Mainly with the old toon when I kept it in the water. Usually you can just squeeze the hose and it will break it up enough to be washed out.

Dirtdobbers here in TN too.....lol. I keep a piece of thick weed eater line in mine when parked. I've seen people use a golf tee also.

I did poke in there with a small screw driver...no results. I already have the new impeller on hand so yes, I will change it. I'll also pull the hose and poke around some more. I just wanted some opnions of those with more knowledge than me :bowdown Is it safe to blow up in there with compressed air too?

I'd be careful blowing on a pee hole. :rofl :rofl :rofl

They call them that here also. I call them evil M%$#$$%rs. They killed my engine a long time ago by building a nest in the intake. Sucked in dirt does wonders for your cylinders. :x

Sometimes on certain engines you won't get water from the pee hole when on the muffs. You might also check the thermostat(s). It or they could be stuck closed. You can test them in a pot of hot water. They should be marked with the temp that they open.

That is a bad impeller, on a par with the one I know ran 1848 hours.

It may pump water at cruise speed when centrifugal force will straighten out those vanes but at slow speed your water pressure is barely "pee worthy".

Yes, that impeller should be replaced. When removed, the blades should go back to their normal position. However, I don't think it's too bad to not pump water at all. Regardless, now that it's out it'd be stupid to not replace it.

I use Weed Eater line to plunge out the pee hole. Unlike a screwdriver, the plastic line will go around corners. After plunging, you can stick a garden hose with the nozzle on the "jet" setting on the intake tube and spray to try to flush it out.

Ya, I'll be changing it today. Hopefully I'll get a chance to run it again this weekend and see the results. I have had it running on the muffs a few times before this, and it has a strong stream. That's why I became alarmed when it quit "peeing".

Some motors wont pee till the stats open. May need a little time to warm up. Pop the line off the block and blow air out from that end instead of from the p hole in. That impeller should pump water. It doesnt look that bad but change it anyway. If you have an intake screen, check that too. If you have a plastic nipple for a p hole like mercs do, take that off and clean from the inside. That hole is a lot smaller diameter than the hose. A small grain of sand will clog it.
