Pontoon Bow Mount Minnkota Troller..tritoon mounting?

#1 Post by Mosnowman » Thu Aug 02, 2012 7:55 am

I just purchased the Minnkota Pontoon Bow Mount trolling motor. I have a Harris Tritoon 240 CX with plenty of room on the front deck. Is there a preferred mounting location? Left or Right front between tri toons? Any advise would be appreciated before I get the drill out to poke holes in my brand new boat! :scared

Yes I mounted a MinnKota Rip Tide. salt version of the terrova. I mounted between two tubes. Doesnt matter which side. Slight angle so I could fit when stowed. Cut the front gate. Works very well. Also make sure it will not hit the trailer.

here is how mine is mounted, I have roughly 32" of deck in front of the railing. I have it set up so it drops down direct between 2 pontoons so I can use it in really shallow water if I need to so the "thrust" is directed down the channel between 2 tubes. I also have a angled front though and set it up that way when I re-decked it this spring JUST so I could mount the troller this way. I didn't want it to interfere with foot traffic as I have young children that go with use quite frequently.

Thanks guys for the replies thus far! I like both your mounts but I definitely want to try to mount it away from the front door if possible? I generally use the boat for activities other than fishing. My main goal was backup to get me to shore followed by fishing....

Is there anyway to mount this thing and have the top extend back along the side of the toon? In other words when in use it would be either on the far right or left. When stowed it would be on either side running along the side of the toon. I realize you would have to be careful docking... but is this idea crazy? Like I said I would want it out of the way most of time....ideas? Thanks!

I have mine mounted so when it is in the water it is on the right hand side. If I am not fishing I just raise the height adjustment so it is out of the water when we unload the boat. It is completely out of the way of the front deck. I always dock so we can load and unload from left side or front. If you need pic I will take some this weekend. :)
