Ever though I'm not sure I want to pull my 20 footer that far with a Jeep Wrangler, what's the ramp like at Captain Ron's under the water? Any good spots for camping on the bank going north? I usually take my two Great Danes and let them run loose while I catfish at night and don't want the girls getting into trouble or bothering anyone.

Lots of decent spots...not as secluded as the mouth of the Mackinaw river but not bad...Capt'n Ron's isn't bad....but that's something you need to actually run around without your boat and check out. Like I stated we put in at Spindler Marina...they have a great riverside camping area...you can run north to Chillicothe and there's a sandy point on the east side that is literally 10ft from the channel and is reasonably quiet...several areas to beach and have fun....I even saw a couple with their Danes on the Cat side playing in the sand...although I don't recommend that for security reasons....my email is...cowboycoot@gmail.com. Feel free to email me...maybe we can meet up on the weekend and we can show you several areas!!!

I just tried the ramp on the west side of the river in Pekin. Bottomed out my pontoon before I could get over the levy. I have a scissor trailer for my boat so I'm going to try and raise the boat up with some 2x4's. Maybe I'll be able to get it past the dip on the end of the ramp and lower it into the shallow water. If not, watch for the ponies on the boat up your ways.
