Y'all remember this pontoon ?

The tiki bar pontoon, the guy used all PT wood to put a heavy upper deck on it and we all warned him it would flip over ? Well it did in a storm Friday night on the Bohemia, similar conditions to the storm that damaged my boat. 60 winds and 4-6 ft waves. She flipped over and the guy's wife was pinned underneath it. Husband pulled her out and everyone is fine. Boat was up-righted after the storm and floated back to the marina. A buddy of mine works with the wife and just told me tonight what happened, he's slipped right next to it. Thing is, we all had warnings of the conditions in advance and they chose to go out.

Heavy but cool, if it was built right and he took proper weight saving advise it would be awesome.

I was thinking he had a lot of weight up high.

Not sure how long it is, but my barge has a 4 person limit on the 16X8.5 upper sundeck; you can certainly tell when four are up there! Can't imagine how someone cold think a big party area up there would work out.

Sorry I can't see it as it takes too much to scroll across the 24" monitor I have. Hope this helps those with laptops.

Looks cool but that is a lot of weight on top.

If you are using Internet Exploder, (I don't use any other browser)

Use the keyboard shortcut combination
[ctrl] + [-]
To make the font and pictures smaller, more visible
[ctrl] + [+]
To make them full sized or zoom in.

Microsoft Keyboard Shortcuts

I can't believe how much weight he added to that thing up that high.. he should consider finding another pontoon to part out to make some outriggers for stabilization... maybe he likes to suffer for his art?

On Firefox you can zoom with CTL and the scroll wheel.

I just copy these kind of pictures into my picture program to examine them. It is interesting that this guy has Delaware numbers, presumably running in Maryland with an American flag and a Conch Republic flag. Clearly conflicted. ;)

He probably registered in Delaware (he's a Delaware resident) because Maryland tripled boat registration fees last year. If he uses his vessel in MD more than 6 months, he has to register here. DNR says they are cracking down on that.

A couple in his marina say the boat is caked in mud but upright. It WAS a 42 X 10 ft pontoon houseboat when it was new with aluminum sides and structure. No idea how he though all that weight wasn't going to be an issue. I've seen him in the Canal nearly tip over due to large vessel wakes. I am also told a sailboat flipped over the same evening in the same area.

He should be thinking about outriggers. Get another trashed pontoon boat and rig out another 4' or so to widen the base. Make side porches on that redneck yacht.
