We keep our boat at Bald Ridge Marina but not sure if we will be out on that weekend. Where do you go?

I was curious how many lake lanier people were on this forum, I keep our pontoon @ Aqualand Marina and will likely be up there too.

We started going to Lanier Island to swim, they have a great beach and because were retired we usually go during the week when it's almost empty.

The weekdays are the best! We only get a chance to go up there on the weekends and have not gone up a lot this year since we have a 5 month old son however we do take him out on it.

Sunset Cove is very busy on the weekend so we normally try to stay on the north end of the lake.

What kind of toon do you and Pontoon Mike have?

Guess we could, but we use Alltootona ( Spelling may be wrong ) mostly because it's only 15 min from the house.

Last time we went to a houseboat party @ Flowery Branch, the lake was 12' below normal. The good news is that they're only 8.5' below full pool today.

But when the place has adequate water, it's glorious.

Lake Lanier Islands has the most incredible hotel/golf/campground/water park facility I've ever seen.

I think at one time, Lake Lanier was the U.S. Government's most used public recreation area. That includes National Parks.

It's a really busy place, and can get pretty crazy on weekends. With so many people come accidents.

Our state has had a big reduction in boating fatalities since they went to a boating test and a marine license added to auto driver's licenses. They also prohibit anyone running a boat of PWC under 12 years old. A 12 year old can get their license, but the parent has to be on board. A 14 year old can run a boat solo.

Our water patrol are like State Troopers on the water, carrying breatholyzers, etc. A DUI on the water also goes over to the auto drivers' license. The fuzz are pretty serious about drugs/drinking, and they have decreased injuries/fatalities.

It's a really busy place, and can get pretty crazy on weekends. With so many people come accidents.

All that makes me happy to just be poking around in the mangroves.
We seldom see other boats if we get out of the channel and we pretty much never see cops. The last time I saw one was close to a year ago and he was stuck on a sand bar along with the cop who came to get him. They haven't been back

We were on Lanier yesterday and they're still looking for the guy. There are a few boaters on every lake that don't seem to have a lick of common sense.

When Lanier was dammed up, they didn't log all the trees. Often, deep water drowning victims get into the trees, and divers are in great danger going down.

The TV helicopter pilot/weatherman's girlfriend that drowned in the trees wasn't found quickly. The authorities often will back off and let nature take its course--as natural gasses will eventually float'em to the surface.

I boat Lake Lanier as well...but we will be in Florida (barring Tropical Storm Issac). Holidays are usually very busy.

Plan on Issac being in Florida Monday-Tuesday. The models are not sure exactly where or how strong but the whole peninsula will have lousy weather for a few days.
