Ron are you and the other Florida guys watching this one? It is not going to be Andrew but we will all probably see a pretty good blow and a lot of rain. All of the models have it coming this way. The question is which side it passes on or whether it comes right up the middle.

Been watching it for a couple days. Looking kinda bad right now. It may cause the RNC to be cancelled or reschedule too.

You folks are not immune to bad weather. ask Ed.
Florida is actually better prepared to deal with it.
The last time I was up there (in July) a little no name storm had wiped out the electrical grid in 3 states.
It really appears that in a marina may be the most dangerous place to keep a boat. Not only are you worried about how your boat is secured, how good a dock is, that you don't own or control but you need to worry about the other guy, who ties up his boat with clothes line, bashing into you.

People up here aren't prepared for any kind of natural disaster. One winter we lost power for 3 days and the 2 homes across the street had frozen water pipes while I'm over here with the generator and wood stove going. I have 2-3 seasons of wood stored, 2 generators and 4500 rounds of ammo.
Yet, when there's 2 inches of snow up here, people crowd the stores like they are going to be stranded for days.
During hurricane Isabel, it was anarchy here.

We don't get bad winters or heavy snow here much anymore (with the exception of 2010). This winter is supposed to be bad. I'll get calls from my neighbors asking me to plow them out. No one has the equipment for snow removal and then they bitch when they get charge $200 by a plow truck to get them out. I have 2 tractors, one of which has a plow blade or snow blower, a separate walk behind snowblower, the 6 wheeler, etc. They don't get used for snow removal much, but 2010 made all that equipment worth every penny.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa! "You folks", seriously he is like 1300-1400 Miles away from me and on the EAST side of the Mississippi. And Bob is in Colorado, about 900 miles South West of here. Locally, we don't name our, only our floods. And we name them boring things like "The flood of 1997" or "The flood of 2000" or "The floods of 2008-2011"....GregF wrote:You folks
Re: Issac
Snow was never much of a problem most of the time around there until you get north of the Mason Dixon and West of about Gaithersburg/Frederick.
I owned a Jeep for 5 years and I only really got to drive it in snow worthy of 4WD once. Fortunately for me, it was the day I sold it
My wife came and got me in her Mustang so it wasn't really that horrible.
All that said, every once in a while you get that perfect storm that brings a low pressure system up the coast and hits a cold front from Canada. That is the one that drops several feet of snow all the way down to about Norfolk.

We just get snow, and tornadoes, and occasional floods, and a lot of fires.

I grew up in the midwest, so cold weather, snow, ice.... used to that... but my first couple of years down here in Louisiana, I was blown away at the reaction to snow... the first time we got about 1/2 inch, they literally closed the city down... they were predicting the snow to start around 5 or 6 that evening, but the school district sent bus'es to schools and sent the kids home at noon.... un freaking real.....badmoonrising wrote:Yet, when there's 2 inches of snow up here, people crowd the stores like they are going to be stranded for days.![]()

You might need to watch it too Roland. A couple models have it heading up into your area. That warm gulf water is like gasoline.

In the East coast of Florida we get thunderstorms every afternoon during the Summer. When you are out on the boat that lightning gets scary and lasts anywhere from fifteen minutes to a half hour.
