New Owner With Seat Storage Question

I bought my first ever pontoon, a 1996 Sweetwater this year. The under seat storage compartment takes on some water after rain and I'm not sure this is normal. I expected to see some drainage holes down there but found none. I figured if they were meant to be there, they would be. Is this correct? Should I drill holes? Many thanks.

I don't remember what our Sweetwater had, but I thought it had a trough on top of the storage areas where the water drained.

If your seats don't keep the water out, you have to have a way to let it out. You also have to deal with the residual moisture or you will have a science fair project going on in there.
That was the problem that got me away from furniture in the first place. I am currently using truck style tool boxes for storage. I am looking for some dock boxes for my new boat but I can't find the right sizes.

ours have 1" holes drilled in the low points. i'd drill holes if they aren't there. through the bottom of the tub, not the decking.
