Storage questions for a 21-foot toon

I was wondering: 1) what members use where snowfall is heavier for winter storage and 2) since I have no trailer to store it on, what is the next best way to have it sit till Spring?

The only thing I have is a low profile storage cover that snaps around the perimeter of the boat and is propped up by about 4 tent-like poles . I’m not sure this will be good enough. Image BTW, the boat will be shrink-wrapped as well.

Your help would once again be appreciated.

Old dog... can you find a boat storage place in your area....storing it indoors would be best if you can!

I store mine shrink-wrapped and on railroad ties. If they do a good wrapping job using wood poles & stringers it should be fine. I get a lot of snow and have never had a problem. Just make sure they wrap it well in the transom. two years ago I had a cat get in mine  :prayer Thank god there was no damage but I made sure it got wrapped tight last year. Some guys here throw in dryer sheets to ward off any unwanted critters.

A Realtor! :biggrin2 That's not a storage problem, that's a location problem!

Sorry, I know it's no help at all! It just reminded me that when I got old enough to understand that winter is optional, it went from being my favorite season to one I only wanted to visit, on my terms, on my timing, and then get out.

Just the fact that you are asking your question shows that you want to take care of your boat. I'm sure you'll find a solution that works well.

Here's what I did. I bought this fly/tent system at the local flea market and then (until I got the barn built) I replaced the leg poles with 9' poles in order to clear the boat. I put the legs into cinder blocks to keep them from moving around in the Ohio winter winds and then tied the tent to the lifting eyes in front and a fence pole driven into the ground at the back.

Now that I have the barn fixed up, I back it into the corner, put the mooring cover on it, put some dryer sheets and mothballs under the cover and wait for Spring.

Wow glad I don't have to deal with that snow. I did get a chance to try my idea when we got a few inches of snow. Put a couple of flood lights under the cover thinking it would warm the cover enough to maybe melt the snow. It did not work.

bassn429 - Do you have pics of yours while stored. Curious how much clearance there is side to side towards top. Looks as if 12 ft wide at base, but narrows toward top.

This would be great for when I have boat out of water, would save having to use cover while on trailer.

Regards,

Rick

The "Navigloo" is popular around here. Two buddies of mine have them for their pontoons and they both love 'em.

Canadian Tire and Costco sells them.

Its 14' wide at the bottom. My pontoon is 9'6" tall on the trailer with the top all the way down laying on the seats and I have about 6" on each side of the boat when backing in or pulling out. U just have to be good :lol3 and take it slow. The best part about the round top shelter is even in the winter if u get a little sun on it u can go in there sit on youre toon , HAVE A BEER and dream about summer :drink4 . If u still need a pic of it let me know and i will take 1 and post it
