I was at the marina yesterday and asked them how to get my Verado to turn over without hearing the "beep" so I could get the cylinders foamed evenly. His reply was use this stuff. I can't remember what it is called. He says to mix it with the fuel and then run the motor for a short time and your done. The cylinders will have the material in there. He says he hasn't foamed in years! I bought some and will put it in the fuel tank in a few weeks. Does this stuff work? Has anyone heard of it? I think the name of it is Star something.
As you can probably tell I'm a newbie at boating. But want to do things right.

Yes, Starbrite. Can it be that easy. I have been taught that the right way is usually the hardest and most time consuming way to do things. Sure would be great if it works!! Also took the boat to the marina to have the motor oil changed $200 bucks and to have the lower unit oil changed $160 bucks. Had to take to the marina for other issues as well so went ahead and had them do the fluids as well. I will be doing the motor oil changes in the future though. Had to drive the boat for an hour and half to get to the marina. No sight seeing on the way but it was a good drive. Not to rough at all.

That's nuts, I pay $175 for a top and bottom oil change plus winterization. Those guys are gaffing you hard!!!!

With the outboards I have had, some I owned over 10 years. All I ever did was add a fuel additive and changed all oils and filters. Of course I ran the fuel additive thru the engine and made sure the water was drained out. I never fog the engine and never had a problem. To winterize an outboard is so simple and easy, sure outwieghs a I/O.

Went ahead and had them do it. I suspected I was paying to much. Had some other things to get taken care of that was warranty work. In the future I won't go there. It does piss me off though. I will ask them about the price and they will justify it in some way. I'll let you know what they say.

I ran by Autozone yesterday to pickup a bottle of Stabil. A 8 oz. bottle of Stabil "Gold Eagle" marine fuel stabilizer was $8.99.

They gave it a good name: Gold It's that expensive.

I decided that we'll be running the boat every few days for another 6 weeks, and I'd just hold off on the fuel stabilizer and 100% gasoline until season's end.

Yep looks like they hit you for certified mech rates and the guy that did it probably wasn't
